WOW! My first package arrived yesterday, and I can't even begin to tell you all how thrilled I am.

Debbie, you have made my month already, lol!

She sent me the most wonderful surprises......everything was all wrapped at tied with ribbon.......the first thing I opened was a new Boyd's bear, yippee! He is just adorable and is soooo soft. Winslow Beariman is his name. I love him.

Next, I opened.....wait, before I tell you what it was, you must know that I was more excited than a child on Christmas morning.....it was the cutest, Greenwing Macaw Christmas ornament. This was so thoughtful of you Debbie, and I was just about ready to cry.

Then, I opened yet another beautiful Christmas ornament...a Cockatoo with a string of Christmas lights in it's mouth! I will be posting pics of these soon. My descriptions do not do them justice. They are just gorgeous. I will treasure these!

Finally, something heavy at the bottom of the box. I unwrap a beautiful, blue/pink birdhouse w/ ceramic flowers on the front. Can you believe I am just finishing a blue & pink garden?? This will go perfectly there.

Debbie, you picked things that I truly love and I will always think of you when I look at them. Thanks so much!

That Greenwing Macaw reminded me of your Sebastian that I saw a picture of on another swap thread. I couldn't resist getting the cockatoo to keep him company. :)

I was so afraid that birdhouse would crush the birds before it got there. I kept adding more & more paper to the box. In fact, I went up a box size just for the paper. LOL

Has anyone heard anything from Mudmom? I think she is our last person.

I left a message on her ans machine and told her we missed her, every time I try to call her phone is busy. I will keep trying tho.I am working on Dawns box. will get it mailed next week, I am a little slow this month. dogs are driving me crazy.

I'm planning to get it out tomorrow. Hope you like it all. I have been collecting seeds for a while now from my garden, and I am sending you a selection of them, some are kinda rare, some are common, but I hope you can use them. If not, just trade them!

i'm hoping i have a minute this weekend to get your box out dawn. things have been nuts here and i'm so looking for september to end, but not before i get your box in the mail. i'm behind in everything, and it's so pathetic.

as for mud mom, i actually sent her snail mail a while back and haven't heard hide nor hair from her and the mail was't returned. i know she was having computer problems, but she kind of disappeared from a swap carol held and there was no word from her. i plan on honoring her next month, is that

i wish my pictures were developed. (haven't joined the digital world yet). but i have a canna that is in bloom. it's quite different than the ones i am seeing as i drive here and there with the red flowers. it's a lighter green leaf and it has incredible large pink flowers, that are gorgeous. it's been in bloom maybe two weeks. anyone know the name? i have three canna that i got in swaps and all the tags washed away. two are green ones and one is a purple one. maybe if someone can throw some names out at me, i can at least google and then when i develop my pics ID it.

did anyone grow any peony poppies this year? i love them. don't even want to tell you the mistake i made thinking when they grew it was lettuce and moving them (and praticaly killing them). i collected 3 seeds. i sure hope they show up in a robin box this year, although i was thinking i would swear them off since i still have many seeds and collected plenty this season.

i also have some dahlias coming up...i had send one to host dawn, i'll have to find out if hers is as well. pretty yellow flowers and the plants themselves are smaller than some of the other dahlias. and let me tell you about my mutant cosmos. the green is about 5' tall and all of a sudden they decided to bloom. i ripped out two thinking these were weeds bcause nothing was happening adn left three in. now i want to smack myself for ripping out the other two. but damn, 5 foot greenery?

castor bean is on my list for next year. anyone know how to harvest the seed? what about amaranthus? do i assume the chennile like flower is the seed? i am loving these two and want to have them next year too.

dawn, you said you built a greenhouse -- was it from a kit or something you designed? have a picture you can post? it's my dream. it's how i found garden web to being with.

I sure know what you mean about being behind. My list just keeps growing.

I can help you with your Castor Bean & Amaranthus. The Castor Bean will develop strange, prickly looking pods. Soon as they are dry you can cut them off and remove the seeds (beans). You must keep an eye on it though, 'cause when it feels like it's good and ready, it will split open itself and drop the seeds. Gotta' try to catch it before it does that.
And I just put a plastic bag over the tassles of the Amaranthus and shake. Voila'.....LOTS of seeds. : )

The greenhouse......that is how I found the GW too!

I designed it myself, and DH and I built it. It was a really fun project, but lots of work. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but will definately make my next one much larger, LOL. Actually, it's a combo. greenhouse/shed. I store all my garden "junk" and my mowers, etc. in the shed side.

I have some picures from back when we were building it, but I need to scan those. They were from my pre-digital days. : ) Have to do that later.

I have it all ripped apart as we speak.......doing my annual major clean-out. I pressure washed the inside of the GH yesterday, and hope to get the shed side done today. When it is all complete and things are put back, i'll take a current pic.

We own a masonry company, so it really didn't cost that much for us to build it. Being in the construction trade makes it much easier to do projects like this. And all the stone came out of our own yard. VERY rocky where we live. That was a blessing. Actually, we were looking to order cultured stone before we brought the Bobcat home to start digging. We dug the hole for the GH and the pond at the same time. The amount of rocks we got was unreal, so we just scrapped our plans to order stone. We knew we had plenty to do both projects. : )

OMG! That greenhouse is freaking gorgeous! I'm just amazed that you and DH did it yourselves. And your garden looks wonderful, too....I am sooooo jealous.

Hello everyone!

Sorry, I know you all think I fell off the edge of the Earth. It has been driving me absolutely crazy that I haven't had the time to properly thank everyone for such wonderful surprises. You have all made my month so very special and I love each and every thing that was sent.

I got a fabulous box from Carol with so many cool things. I couldn't get over the water bottle cozy! I didn't know there was such a thing.....it's perfect! Oh, and wait 'till you see my flamingo pen! It makes me smile every time I use it. Oh, and the flamingo windchime....adorable! Several different Crocosimia, a "hummer-hook", candy that I hogged down 'cause I haven't had a candy bar in many moons, and so many other great things.

And then my "spa" package arrived from Jenell. With more candy!!! Heaven...........i'm in heaven.........
That lotion is to die for! And the journal is beautiful. I've always wanted one! The picture frame is soooo me! I will be putting one of my birds baby pictures in it. Oh, and the things for in the bath, they are so neat. They smell so good. Tons more stuff as well.

I'm even enjoying my month this month, lol. Today I got a great box from Maryanne jam packed with goodies galore. What a treat! How did you know I love temp. tattoo's???? The Philly Eagle is soooooo funny! I will wear it, just not on a Steeler Sunday, LOL. : )
The Boyd's is precious! I never saw that one before.
Oh, and I am so thrilled about the Birdsongs CD! DH and I are looking forward to listening to it with our birds. And lots of plants! : )

Oh, and from Dawn, I am going to be getting a subscription to one of my very favorite gardening magazines. Yay!

I have been snapping pictures throughout my month and am working on my very long list of wonderful gifts. I will be posting it soon. I want to brag about all the great stuff you all sent and also to show how special each and every one of you are. : )

Alison, I didn't forget about you & the pic that I am supposed to show either. I loved everything you sent but that one particular thing.......oh I will treasure it. Sooooo cute! Oh, and thanks for the compliment on my greenhouse. You made me laugh! DH and I work very well together and he was so sweet to help me build it. There is usually alot of swearing involved with our projects, but that one was mostly fun. Hard work but we kept smiling. I can't even tell you how much mortar I shoveled or how time consuming it was to lay all of the stone. Fortunately we only had one major accident.....DH just about cut his thumb off with a utility knife while cutting a hole in the polycarbonate to install the exhaust fan. He slipped and the next thing I knew blood was flying all over my new greenhouse and I went into super-panic mode. Very deep cut but thank God, he healed up nice. I owe him big. : )

Well, i'm not going to get much sleep so I need to get to bed. I won't be home much for the rest of the week but the weekend is looking great....nothing to do!!! woo hoo! I'm sure I will find time to get all the pictures posted and to tell y'all everthing else I got.

Carol, I am still laughing over the flamingo pen! I take it everywhere. I have lots of other pens/pencils with birds on them, but that is my hands down favorite!!
