The city where I once lived in France has banned gasoline vehicles entirely. The roads are blocked so they cannot even get through. Instead are little electric cars, or loaner bicycles one can use and just deposit at a collection site when they are finished. I can remember my mother steering our huge American car along the cobblestone streets, where one would have to find a place to park, just to let traffic past coming from the other direction.

I use quart size yogurt containers (#5 plastic which is not easily recycled here). They are big enough to plant in, great for collecting seed from the yard in the fall, and are easily cut into strips for plant markers. The funny thing is I bought a bag of the "real" plastic plant markers and after less than a year of being outside they are so brittle that the lightest touch snaps them. The ones from the yogurt containers are still going strong though, the plastic is more flexible and none of them have broken.

Jennifer - I know EXACTLY how you feel. I will miss my sweet mom, and father for that matter for the rest of my life, every day of my life. I can't even say the word. I can't even look at pictures or letters. I feel for the most part that I will never get better. But I get through each day, and I function - I get done what I need to. That's all I can do right now. Hang in there. Keep trying. Be grateful for the love that you shared. It is not a given that all mother's and daughters share this. I've met many who don't have this with their mothers. I'm so grateful I had it with mine and I know you are too. Joanie
