Very low growing shade ground cover?

Ok, the grass finally has succumbed to the shade in the back yard, so now I need to decide on a groundcover that will work in the shade, be perennial, and that will stay as low as possible, for the dogs. It needs to be heat hardy, as well as winter hardy, of course. DFW climate is as tough as it gets, it seems.

My one possibility is dwarf mondo grass, but I am open to other options, if anyone knows any.
