Which grows faster? Nastutiums or Morning Glories.
Comments (5)Thank you for the replies. I think based on the info I will put the Nasturtiums against the south wall of my balcony. There is a wall there so the full force of the sun doesn't hit until high noon. I know that they both like full sun but if the Nasties don't like too much heat at least they will have the morning in the cool shade of that wall until midday. I mainly wanted to know which grew faster because I didn't want one shading out the other while growing out this trellis idea I have. Now if I can just get them started and planted with out the cold nights killing them off!! I started some indoors but only three plants came up so far. One Morning Glory and two Nasturtiums. Thanks Again, Acer11...See MoreHave commercial seeds for morning glory seeds

Comments (2)My ivy leafed small light blue morning glories bloomed first and got to about four foot tall. The Early morning, or tall mix got tallest at about ten foot and bloomed much later. Because they needed to be sown after frost I didn't see a lot of difference between my direct sown and winter sown. I didn't use the best soil though and my drainage was bad. This year I'm doing more and will be direct sowing for ease of planting out....See MoreWhich Morning Glories Do Well Down Here?
Comments (10)Well thanks for all the suggestions. I tried G-pa Ott and Scarlet O'Hara. The O'Hara seeds went in and I never heard from them again. Grandpa Ott grew and flowered, but if "you-all" think it does well down here then either I did something wrong or you just need to see how they grow in MI. They were pathetic. The biggest leaves weren't even as big as my palms. The flowers were only about 2 1/2 inches across. They were pretty, but they weren't full enough to provide any kind of privacy, and they wilted miserably every afternoon. We had to water them 2X a day sometimes. So phooey. This year I'm growing purple hyacinth bean vines and moon flowers. The one moonflower I planted last year didn't even die! It's already leafing out all over the trellis from top to bottom. Now I'm growing a purple one too. Thanks again everybody....See Moregloria_j
