I was surprised when you said it gave directions for soil application and that's all but you are right. I have an unopened bottle and every dilution rate says for soil. I even went to the Lily Miller website and it doesn't help.

I 'think' people use the same 1 tbl per gallon even as a foliar but it would be great if you could call them to doublecheck. It almost seems like they only want you to apply it to the soil.

I'm using this for my foliar spray this year. I've read several favorable reports on it the past year. Check out the sprayer in the lower right hand corner. I bought one with the kit and was skeptical at first as to how it would work but was pleasantly surprised as it worked like a champ. Ami

You might want to rethink the foliar spray idea. Wet leaves can induce fungal attacks. Tomato growers go to great lengths to induce air circulation around their plants and apply thier ferts to the growing medium (soil, compost, hydro) Personally I think your best foliar application would be Daconil once a week or so. This is only my opinion and I wish only to help. Best of luck.

jbann, I don't think the idea of not wetting the leaves needs to be taken quite that far.

As far as that goes every single morning my plants are very wet from DEW. So I think people are becoming somewhat paranoid about wetting the leaves --especially when you are talking about an occasional foliar feed such as fish emulsion.

Afterall they are getting rained on too so a rare occasional spray of water, whether blasting off bugs or foliar feed seems to me would be OK.

I think the more 'general' recommendation would be to spray whatever you are spraying in the early morning so the sun can quickly dry off the leaves. Certainly you are not supposed to constantly water your plants in the evening with a spray from the hose as my husband is apt to do--he says he finds it relaxing. :)

Daconil is poison. Why would you want to poison your food.

Thanks for the suggestion jbann, but I am doing the organic bit, so no daconil for me. I live in a very arid place - I rarely see dew let alone rain lol I feel that an occaisional foliar feed isn't going to be a big problem. It gets to about 75 by mid morning, nearly 100 early afternoon so it will quickly dry.

The reason I am doing the foliar feed though is I have transplanted a couple of tomato plants and since their root systems have been disturbed, I am hoping that a little foliar feeding might help them get through the shock.
