Compost pile worms

One of my compost piles gets mostly kitchen scraps. The soil under this pile is usually alive with worms of all sizes. I'd like to use the soil (add it to my raised bed vegetable garden) but don't want to disturb the worms too much. Is there a way to get the worms to leave the pile for awhile so I can "harvest" the soil & castings? Would it be sufficient to just stop adding fresh material to this pile, maybe moving the fresh over to the side to attract them away?
