Newbie Asks: Critter, Deficiency or Disease?

I have a five foot tall potted tomato plant that WAS doing great here in central Florida. I am too much of a novice to determine if it is a bug, deficiency or disease but whatever it is, it is the same thing that killed my tomatoes last year. The affliction starts with the appearance of whitish "trails" in the leaves. The fruit itself does not appear to be affected but once the affliction starts almost no fruit is produced. The trail patterns resemble the meanderings of some type of critter over or within the leaf but I cannot see any bugs whatsoever. The leaves eventually curl, turn brown, and the stems die one by one. About 75% of the plant is dead or dying so it may be too late. Any idea what this is? I've searched this forum and think it may be a mosaic virus. Correct?
