Growing tomatoes in pots - experience with MG moisture control?

I've never grown tomatoes in pots before, but we lost ALL our tomato plants last year to fusarium wilt (even the disease resistant ones). After a year with no home-grown toms, I'm not taking any chances this year!

So, I've got some 5 gallon pots, 2 Sun Sugars, 1 Brandywine, and 2 Celebrity tomato plants. Today I bought a big bag of Miracle Grow moisture control, thinking this would help with keeping them evenly moist. Now I'm second-guessing myself. Will they do well in this potting soil? Anyone had any experience growing all season in MG moisture control? When I did a search for this, the only thing I found was people starting seeds or small transplants in this stuff, but I want to know what happens when you grow the whole season in it. Haven't opened the bag yet, anyone have any better suggestions for potting soil that won't break the bank?

Thanks for any info you can give!
