I have a few of them they like sun--shade more sun the prettier they are they winter over in Montgomery

So they don't get too wilty or crispy when it turns hot around here? I'm taking what you wrote to say the more sun they get the prettier they look.

I have mine in part sun/shade. It does fine in the summer with sufficient water.

here by Dallas I enjoy them in filtered light or bright shade. Too much afternoon sun and they lose their rich purple.

Last year I had a row of them edged by a row of orange impatiens. They did great. So I assume they like what impatiens like: some fertilizer, shade and regular water.

I think they are an eye catching exotic color for the shady garden. BTW in deep shade they grew, but not as well for me. Might have been because I forgot about them without their impatient companions to demand attention

Sounds like maybe I should start them out in pots and move around the yard to see where they do best. If our caladium zones don't work, maybe some japanese golden sedum or asparagus fern around them as contrast would work well in sunnier spots.

I just saw some of these last week, and fell in love with them too! I have to resist for now, though...until I figure out a spot for them, that is!
