Vine suggestion needed

I would like to grow an annual vine around the lamp post in front of my house. (One of those black metal decorative ones, not one of the big wooden electric co. ones.) For various reasons, I don't want to do a perennial like clematis, at least not this year.

The lamp post area has a little mini-garden planted around it: 3 huge Autumn Joy sedum in a horshoe, with Early Sunrise coreopsis in front. Our soil has a lot of clay, and the front yard gets baked in the summer. What vine will do OK in hot, dry, fairly lean conditions, and not clash with the color of the sedum when the Autumn Joy starts to turn colors in the late summer/fall? I can think of lots of vines I would like to try, but they either seem like they would clash with the pink/burgandy color of the late sedum, or like they need richer soil.

Thanks for any help--
