fast-yellowing leaves, speckling stem on rainbow heirloom (pics)

As a novice gardener, I've been tending to my tomatoes in containers, and it seems that I'm having a great deal of trouble keeping my Rainbow heirloom from seemingly dying before it has a chance to get through an initial fruiting. My Cherokee Purple is doing all right in a similar container, and my Chadwick Cherry and Micado Violettor tomatoes are seemingly developing well as 6" seedlings go.

Is the Rainbow perhaps not suited to container (12" diam) gardening and/or am I perhaps not feeding it appropriately? It is certainly kept watered; I water when the soil feels relatively damp, about every 2-3 days. They are all grown in a mixture of peat moss and vermiculite, and on one occasion, weeks ago, I tossed in some fertilizer given to me by a friend.

There are a few fruits developing(!), but I am afraid the plant will die before they mature.

If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!
