too early to move transplant into container?

Hello everyone,

I worry that my impatience for spring may have gotten the better of me-- I bought a small Better Boy that I had planned to transplant into a container on my concrete balcony, until I came home discovered that the temperatures will drop to the 40s most nights this week (daytime temps 60s-70s, sometimes 80s). I've kept plant in the little 3" container it came in, left it outside during the day and brought it in at night. Should I keep doing this until night-time temperatures are reliably above 50 (or some other number)? Or is it better for me to plant it in its permanent container now to let it stretch out its roots and hope the cool temps don't stunt its growth? Unfortunately the container I'm putting it in is a too big for me to drag indoors at night, so that option is out.
