can anyone recommend a nursery/plant store in fort worth?

we just moved here and I haven't explored much yet.

Any suggestions for fantastic plant sellers who have more of a range of things and native plants as well?

Green Mama's in is North Richland Hills on Davis Blvd. It's a small nursery, but has many natives and well adapteds - mostly shrubs and perennials, some trees, and a few annuals. They sell organic products too. I love that place!

Just thought I would come back and update this thread! I think that I bought some of this stuff in late 2010, but I don't know definitely. I have notes from 2011. Ozark Premier plum from womack: growing great, no fruit yet. Redglobe peach from womack: growing great, fruited last year. less than a dozen peaches with good flavor. Orient pear from womack: growing great, no fruit. Eureka persimmon from womack: dead. my fault. transplanted in the heat of summer last year and it didn't make it. hadn't fruit yet. Phil's sweet pomegranate from edible landscaping: growing great. had two poms last year. very sweet, very little tartness. minimal hard seeds. Jersey knight asparagus from edible landscaping: growing great. harvested a few spears last year. already growing this year. Grapes from lowes: hit or miss on how well its doing. bought flame red, thompson red and monukka. Weeping mulberry from edible landscaping: growing. probably didn't trim properly, as its still very low. fruited last year and can already see fruit now. fruits were very edible (I was concerned that it might be more decorative). i would say sweet. Illinois everbearing mulberry: growing slowly. moved it last year, so it might be a little shocked. did get a handful of fruits last year. At my previous house, I had both navajo and arapaho blackberries in slight shade. They both grew. The navajo berries were superior in sweetness to the arapaho. I have chosen to put in some navajo at the current house.

Hi Danny Theres a nursery in weatherford called Stuart Nursery Inc. they always carry the tuberosa not sure if they have it right now but it would be worth checking. Iknow of a mail order nursery that carries it if your interested. I have it growing wild in my pasture along with antelope horns i'll check and see if any are peaking out yet. Can anyone recommend Upstate New York Nurseries?

I am not super clear myself on what I mean by Upstate New York. In Sept. I am traveling through Burlington Vt to Plattsburgh NY and then up to Montreal, coming back down into the USA at Alexandria Bay, NY. I have not traveled much in New York, so I am trying to figure out the best way to drive back across New York to get back to the Boston area, planning to take 2 days to make it back from Alexandria Bay. Several years ago, I took a road trip across Vermont influenced by the Ruah Donnelly book about specialty nurseries' (carefully researching online to make sure they were still in existence). I briefly considered driving down to Ithaca and coming back from there, but decided that the Finger Lakes area should be a separate trip. I may drive to Lake Saranac and then down through Albany. A chance to stop at either interesting specialty nurseries or even good garden centers might divert my course.

Oh, and Blooming Colors in Grapevine on Hwy 26. They are locally owned, very natural setting in the trees. Have natives and others too. I hired them last year to build a retaining wall and plan a garden on the top, and then I planted it. They are great folks too.

Which side of Fort Worth are you on? Hare's is on the far west side of Arlington. They are family owned and have great plants including lots of perreniels (sp?) when they start stocking up. Don't forget Mike's Garden Centers too.

Marshall Grain is opening a new store on 121 in Grapevine this week. I think this store will specialize in native plants. The Plant Shed is good. My favorite is Calloways. They have the prettiest and I think best selection. And they always have someone there to help with your questions or problems.

Someone said there was a thread on it under the exchange-
I'd love to see an event like that

And hopefully some of my seedlings will have thrived enough that I can bring something to trade
