Difference between worms

So I have this plan but I am not sure if it makes sense. I am building large planters with which I will container garden strawberries. I am planning to use the worm castings as a fertilizer for the planters. I use the red wrigglers for my worm bin, and as I understand, they will not survive in regular soil. I thought that a great compliment for the worms in the bin would be to add earthworms that do live in the soil to the planters. Then I could rely on the worms in the planters to help work the soil, and to work the red wriggler castings into the soil. Does this make sense? If so, can those kind of worms be purchased? By what name do they go and can I get them from the same place I get the red wrigglers? I see worms called european night crawlers. Are those what I need for this? Hopefully there is a cheaper alternative. The night crawlers seem to go for $50 a pound. Perhaps I should just start diggin around my yard and putting the worms I find in the planter.
