cornstarch cups - have you tried to compost them?

I have a brand-new vermicompost bin - I just adopted worms this morning, and they are now (hopefully!) dining on my veggie scraps. I happen to be hosting an event at school tomorrow, and we're using the compostable cornstarch cups. I thought I might collect them after the event and bring them home, since they won't compost if they get sent to the landfill. Has anyone had any experience trying to compost these? I don't want to screw up my bin at this point, since it's just getting started. I thought maybe I should rinse the cups well and cut them into smaller pieces, and gradually incorporate them in...

Any thoughts on this? A google search tells me that they take around 30-40 days in a commercial composting site to break down.
