Critter digging in my tomatoe bed

OK, this may be applicable in many forums...but maybe this group has a similiar experience and can help me solve this problem.

I have an area that I enclosed with chicken wire and stakes. and then reinforced with boards lined on the inside of the wire....(my next step is to use staubs to secure the boards better). In a nearby raised bed, recently whatever it is got inside and dug up around my roses and strawberries...holes I'd say ranging from 3 to 6 inches wide and up to 6 inches deep.

SOMETHING is digging these holes all around my yard, beds and this enclosed area...not sure what it is...or how big it is but somehow it's getting in either under or over the chicken wire fence. So far it has not disturbed the actual tomatoe plants, but digging holes in and around them...obviously this cant be good.

Whatever can I do? I have heard moles and armadillo's mentioned, I know of some mole repelant, but have no clue what to do about armadillo's.

anyone have a suggestion?
