Wanting to start small, really small, and cheap

I did a search and read through several previous threads.

There was one where the poster started with a 2 liter bottle, but that post was about moving up because she'd outgrown the setup.

It looks like the general person that wants to give vermicomposting a try starts with maybe a 10 gallon container. I saw a few mentions of a 5 gallon -- the most interesting being nesting 5 gallon buckets.

I'll be checking Worms Eat My Garbage out on my next library trip. In the meantime, any advice for someone wanting to start small and cheap?

It seems that the first hurdle is getting a house for the worms, then you've got to get the worms. I can't get worms from my yard -- there aren't any, even under my traditional compost piles -- so I'm looking for the next cheapest, yet still decent, source.
