The pole and power lines are just part of it. They don't bother me at all.. I would lighten the shadows just a tad so one could read the sign a tiny bit better. It wouldalso be mor like how you saw it. Our eyes are so much better at dealing with light s and darks. I always finds it irritating how at sunset the land just turns into one big shadow it one does not watch out. It is a nice effect for Christmas lights though.

I have one that has been photoshopped to remove them. It does look better of course, but, I always just go with what was really there.

And, I agree and disagree about lighting. Yes, the eye picked up the sign better, but, at the same time, if you adjust the photo so the sign can be seen as well as the eye saw it, you make the color of the sunset for less colorful and impressive than it actually was.

I have seen a review of a couple of cameras that solve this problem (they say). They do it by taking two pictures, back to back, almost simultaneously, one set to the dark area of the photo and one set for the light area of the photo.

Then the picture comes out where you get both the dark dark and the lighter parts of the pic.

I think those would be neat to have. Until then its kind of a Hobson's Choice between getting one, the other or settle for a blander rendition of both.

Don't change a thing, RC, I love them the way they are.

I have a setting on my photo program that lightens the shadows without lightening the bright colored areas. It is very selective. It gives the sane effect as the two photoed camera thingy.

No, no photo-shop, please. The poles and power lines put the whole scene in perspective for me. A beautiful sunset in the midst of "civilization". Thanks for sharing.

I use photo editing programs to make the photo how I remember seeing them. Cameras often record the data with too much contrast either selecting the skye or the ground, and one has to dig into the data to correct the way the camera has recorded them. I do not see the data as the be all and end all. since they will vary from camera to camera and what setting you have it on . I go for memory and that is selective and interpretational also.

Well, at the risk of repeating myself.............RC, we have been enjoying your photos for such a long time, please don't change a thing.

Thanks guys. One thing is for sure "many ways to skin a cat" and as alluded to, "some interpretation" and personal taste in most pics.

Maybe one of these days I'll get one of those cameras that leave less need to try to balance out the picture with what was seen.

And... by the way, according to the latest weather reports I've seen, its you guys down south that may need to be sending me some snow pics with this next storm. Go get'em! ;)

I took my "yearly" snow pics on Christmas Day, RC.......I don't feel the need to have weather that would allow me to take more..............LOL>

Not very often that the interstate to El Paso gets closed by snow.

And, c'mon Carrie, you need to get out there and freeze for the cause a little! lol

I am under the moisture stream and I think we got .08" of precipitation in the form of ice. I saw a very slight dusting of ice before sunrise but nothing now but grey dreariness. They lied.

Ha! Yeah, those guys are pretty bad about that. As I mentioned above "they" told us it was all going south of us. I looked out my office about three yesterday and could barely see across the street for the snow. But, at least they got it partly right, it didn't last long here.

Now some of them are saying six inches for next Tuesday....

I have always been a lover of sunsets and rises. There is a feeling that reaches out and gives that wonderful feeling of all is well. Photos help bring back memories of times we have been there to enjoy the fuller beauty of those setting and each time I see one that same feeling comes back. So thank you very much for your posts we do love them.
