BW is a late season variety and a low producer at that so just patience is needed. ;) If others are setting fruit it isn't the temps and assuming the BW didn't get lots of extra N it should set some soon.

Thank's for the encouragment Dave. I'm trying to be patient, but the BW is so healthy and the blooms so prolific, I figured something must be wrong. This is my first time with Brandywine. My area is very hot and humid, but I took advice on this forum and started the seed early and actually planted in mid march to try and get fruit set before the really hot temp sets in. So many rave about the taste of BW I just had to try it. I'm putting on my patient pants.

Last year I had a Mortgage Lifter that grew prolifically but never set a single fruit. On either side were other varieties that did famously. You just never know with heirlooms!

I'm in metro Atlanta area of Georgia. I tried growing Brandywine in 2007. Planted them in March as recommended on this forum. They didn't start setting fruit until the end of May. It took until the end of June for the first one to ripen on vine. Our plants were big and beautiful. The tomatoes were large. I wanted to try them because of the rave reviews I had seen also. Tastes of course are personal. They were good enough, but I was not overly impressed. For our area, they did not seem to be worth the extra effort.

That Brandywine, darn she's a fussy one with mood swings, but she comes around eventually. Just tolerate her, it will be worth it.

My BW has been in the ground since the second week of March, it's 5 ft tall now , and just these past couple days I started seeing yellow blooms. I had no idea when I planted it that BW is so stubborn with setting fruit. I've got limited space so I'm a little bummed that I ended up planting this variety.

Just give it time. I am sure it will get going soon. I put mine out on march 1st and I already have 5 fist sized fruit developing. The weather has been perfect down here for tomatoes so far so that is probably the reason. Temps are climbing now so I am not expecting my luck to continue too much longer.

I have two this year. One has set 6 fruit (I can verify 6at least, possibly several more) so far, the other seems to have no blooms or possibly some deformed looking blooms that are very small and grow straight out of the main stem. I think something is seriously wrong with that one, yet both were bought at the same place and time, and one is starting off as productive as any I've done. (3rd year for them). The ones I have had in the past have been yeilded few and far between (3-8 total toms per plant), but they were large, beautiful and ever so tasty. If this year is a bust, try it again next year as you may find it to be worth it, if you can afford a plant this is low yield, but tasty.

Other than shaking the plant I can't think of anything else you can try.

Sudduth Brandywine performs great for me here. My seeds are from Johnny's and this may be a factor. I've been growing Brandywine many years and Sudduth about 8 or 10. In those years Brandy only let me down one year. I'd guess I get about 25 fruit per plant per season and that number might be a little low.

I have 3 good looking 3-4' plants that I grew from seed from a Burpee Pink Brandywine pack. I set them out March 7th. I have tons of flowers and 1 marble sized tomato. Weather has been great and one tomato. I have 3 3-4' Better Boy plants with tons of flowers and 3-4 green tomatoes per plant. Maybe I'm not a very good tomato farmer yet. I haven't used fertilizer, only compost (Black Kow when planting and as mulch), would that make a difference?
