jak fruit trees: multiple plantings per hole?

I have read that people growing jaks in their native range will plant a handful of seeds in the ground and keep the seven strongest seedlings. They then bind the seedlings together to form one trunk, supposedly they come into fruiting faster this way.

What I am wondering is could I plant out 3 or 4 grafted varieties of jak in the same hole and bind them or approach graft them into one trunk. Ideally making different sections of a single trunk produce different fruit. I do plan to butcher the trees to keep them short (8-10') for winter protection. The other thought would be to plant them in the same hole and allow multiple trunks but I think this would get too large for my space.

what do you think?
