Love the video I too hope for rain im in alvin texas and its crazy I was wondering how your celebertys are doing I planted them and 2 beefys here are the pic only thing im haveing is my lower fruit is getting holes in it must be some kind of worm but i cant seem to find anything.

Kyle, I live about 100 miles northwest of Houston. No injury from the fence, but did get quite a jolt. I somehow just did not believe a solar powered electric fence could produce a shock with that kind of intensity.

Angie, the Celebrity plants are doing well although fruit set on them is well below the numbers on other varieties. All indeterminate plants are approaching the four foot stage.

garf, one key this year to excellent foliage is the lack of rain. If I had my choice, I would prefer plenty of rain but one advantage of the extra dry conditions this year is that the foliage has also remained dry and that helps keep many of the potential foliage issues in check.

I flood the rows here with 10 gallons of water ever other day but the fruit isnt heavy Im ganna try another type of tomatoe nexted year which is best I make a great canned piconte sauce and need tons of nice red tomatoes.And saddly they so pricie here cant get enought.So here in texas which tomatoes fruits the best.Iv have also a tuff time with army worms here this year.

Angie you're going to need a machete to get to fruit in the middle of that bed. lol!

Jay nice plants and layout. That's about how mine will look as far as the layout but with less plants. I wish I was physically able to have more but with limited mobility I have to keep it fairly small.
What soil mix are you using in the containers?

I mix together one bag of Miracle Grow Potting Mix (2.5 cu ft)and and one bag of Black Kow Manure (50 lb bag). I then supplement with Vigoro fertilizer.

Awesome stuff jay. I'm in Friendswood right next to Angie83. Idon't have pictures yet but am trying black heirlooms this year. I've got big beef, huskey cherry for my boys (they love them) and bush goliath in the ground and doing very well....all home depot. I ordered seed for black krim, brandywine (not sure which variety) and two other blacks, one a cherry, both names I've forgotten. I'm in mexico now so I can't look.

bottom line is thanks for giving me something to watch that is interesting and not in spanish. Nice garden setup. Buenos noches

Timmy, I suspect it's coming from the neighbors pasture which is around 30' from the edge of my garden....separated by a brush border. We have had extraordinary winds this year and they are always from the south - southwest. The pasture is due south.

Thanks bliner01, looks like we missed out on the rain again but love these current temperatures....nice and cool.

Jay, Next time you run into him, try to explain whats going on in a nice way...Offer some tomatoes, and maybe suggest timing applications when wind direction is out of the north or prior to you planting. Then again, some people just don't care.

timmy, I was on the radio with Dr. Neil Sperry a couple of weekends ago and he suggested the same thing. I think he said his garden was about 50' away from the source of the herbicide.
