what varieties?

I was thrilled to have acquired both that I forgot to list the varieties. The mango is a Graham and the lychee is a Brewster.

ah Bo! I was there last Sunday. Bet it'll be a fun journey. I've always wanted to grow a dwarf mango tree. Goodluck with both!

Bo...please do a search on Puglvr's mango pruning. Since you will be bringing your plants in and outside, this may prove to be a very important step for you. Allow the plant to get settled in nicely first. Just my two cents.

Congratulations on your new addititions! The lychee looks great. The mango looks to me like it has some sort of nutritional deficiency. I would re-pot both. The mango especially. I would fertilize the mango with some time- released balanced fertilizer with minor elements and give it plenty of warmth, sun (if you can find any) and water. Keep us posted on how your new plants progress.

ohiojay - I will research Puglvr's mango pruning. This will definitely help (as I know nothing about pruning!). Your greenhouse is fantastic! I am still envious!

mango kush - They'll be wintered indoors. I still haven't figured out how I'll be doing that part. I'm lucky spring/summer is upon us!

Harry - It's a good thing you suggested I repot both. (I was gonna wait). Right now, it's kind of yucky outside but the weatherman does call for sunshine in the next few days. I hope so! I will definitely keep you posted on their progress and post pics.

Both the mango and lychee are from pine island. I've heard a lot of you talk about their place. So I am glad they're from a reputable nursery in Florida.

It must've been destiny for me to find out about the sale! I will be doing a lot of research and asking a lot of questions! I hope you all don't mind if I ask questions that's probably been recycled a million times before. Summer cannot get her fast enough!

Congrats! Now you have something to look at when you're bored...lol. I usually buy tropical fruit trees when I'm bored because it keeps me busy researching and reading and searching again. Then when the trees arrived I get to use some of my time to pot it, prune it, water it, and look for new growth. Then wait for the tree to fruit...year after year...lol. How fun.:)

Thanks ch3rri! I know what you mean about the researching and reading and more researching! I've spent many hours on gardenweb and online doing this exact same thing. You're right about how very exciting and fun it is to watch them grow or to see new growth. It's all fantastically thrilling for me! You have some really nice tropical fruit trees. And you grow them in containers and on top of that you get fruit! Wow. I find this to be inspiring and motivating. Thanks!

Thanks puglvr1! I'll be checking out your postings about pruning mangoes. Though, I did come across one post where you cut the top off completely. I am thinking about doing this too.

Quick, take the trees back now while there is still time! Look what has happened to poor Andrew (and most the rest of us) it all starts with "just one or two trees", next thing you know you are adding a greenhouse onto the back of your home.

hahahaha...I totally agree with you Ethan. You can never quit with just two trees. I told myself to quit many times and here I am looking for more trees.

LOL! Before I know it, I'll probably end up populating my entire place with tropical fruits trees. I went overboard with the national germplasm. The other day they sent 45 pomegranate cuttings. Anyone want some?
