Sasha's Pink Update

As some of you may recall, I recently asked if anyone knew any history on the Sasha's Pink tomato I have. No one could recall ever having heard of this tomato before and I was left thinking that there must have been a mix up in the name. I was thinking (wrongly) that I had traded for this at one time and that the trader must have made a mistake and that maybe it was supposed to be Sasha's Pride. But it is NOT Sasha's Pride as I have grown that also and the Sasha's Pink I have is a really delicious big pink beefsteak. Well, tonight I was going through my seeds figuring out my list for this year and lo and behold there was my package for the Sasha's Pink and it turns out I had purchased them sometime in the past from Totally Tomatoes. There is no info on the package - not even a "packed for" date so I don't know the year I bought them. I know it has been over 8 years probably. Of course the catalog no longer carries them so I am still left with no info. I also know that it is possible for companies to make mistakes so I am still unsure of the origion of this tomato but at least I know now where I got them! LOL!

clone the seeds. Plant an area with just those tomato plants, and let self-pollinate, and save the seeds from the plant. When you do, let me know so i can provide you with my mailing address so you can send me some. I will pay for envelope and stamp.

I know you said they are about 8 years old, but you will be surprise to notice that some of those seeds might still germinate. At least i hope!. Good luck!

Well, I'm not worried about them germinating as I have grown them several times since I got them and have some fairly fresh seed saved for them. I was just surprised they had been offered commerically as no one I know has heard of them and I can't find anything about them by "googling"

i wonder if those have a little too much bright white?? is your bedskirt bright white or ivory or tan? just taking a quick look at their site, i might consider something like: the Quinn leaf in khaki, martha window Windsor Wave in vintage indigo or aluminum khaki, royal velvet geneva in fawn, JCP hamilton in british khaki or kensington blue, or royal velvet vance in blue... i need to see things in person since it's hard to tell exact colors on line, so i would order a couple/few you like and see how they look- nice thing about jcp is you can return anything to a store- i don't know if they offer free returns by mail...

well i'd leave everything for now. Its dated so pulling off the rather nice mosaic isn't going to get you anywhere. I'd get a stainless hood...the same under cab style but stainless will tie in the faucet and hardware which is a double plus so you don't have to replace a nice faucet. Top drawers on the lowers would handle newer cup pulls that coordinate w handles as a decent modest refresh, and easier. the salmon pink counter will glare at you if you remove the brownish toned mosaics which are making it tolerable. But in reality the counters and backsplash when you change them both will make the difference...but then you must have the discussion about the cabinets. So best to wait..... this general advice re waiting at first, is given for a reason....to save you.

Yours is one of the better looking and nicely designed exteriors that I've seen on Houzz. I like the composition, scale and proportion. If you want to keep shutters on your home I would suggest replacing what you have with appropriately sized operable shutters. It's a bit hard to see in the photo but if your door and sidelights have 80's decorative glass I might consider replacing to update the look. You might even consider replacing the door and sidelights with double entry doors. I would suggest looking at your landscaping - especially thinning out some of the shrubs in front of the porch. Just to say again - you have a lovely home!

If the seeds were purchased from TT over 8 years ago that means that it was Wayne Hilton's Co at that time. He sold TT to Jung's Seeds after that.

It's a busy time of the year right now for any seed Co but I suggest that later you might wish to contact Jung's and ask if any of the older TT catalogs were transferred to them when they bought TT.

And if so could someone check them for Sasha's Pink.

Great idea Carolyn! I will certainly do that once the season slows down for them. I didn't know any of the history of the company so that is helpful!
