Post your Favorite Rose Picture of 2010
Comments (29)Posted by canadian_rose zone 3a (My Page) on Thu, Apr 21, 11 at 12:07 Love your shot of Outta the blue!! It looks like an antique rose. Precious Platinum is just bursting with flowers. Love it. I've ordered Mr. Lincoln this year, so I hope it does well and smells great. What do you think of your Mr. Lincoln? ------------------------------------------------------------ Carol, Our Mr Lincoln is own-root and it is still young. We just got it last season as a baby band from Heirlroom. It grew to about 3ft high it's first season from a 8 inch baby Heirloom band. Carol, is your ML grafted??? Comments (44)I started most of my seeds Jan. 4. I transplanted this year on 2/24, two weeks earlier than last year. It's been pretty mild with only one light frost and a lot of 80's/60's days the last week or so. My first fruit is on my first container plant, which I thought was a Bloody Butcher, but since Bloody Butcher is a potato leaf variety, this is a mystery plant. The seeds were given to me so I won't complain and the plant is setting fruit nicely too. Most of my in-ground plants are putting out their first blooms. I'm growing 30 plants(many colors and sizes) this year, 6 of which are at a church garden. I live in the DFW area. Happy growing, Pete...See MorePost Your 2009 Tomato Pics (Part 3)
Comments (36)Ok, here are my newest "baby" pictures, these were planted on April 12, and just sprouted the 16th. Cherokee Chocolate was the first to come up, with an Aker's West Virginia in the back right cell and a Crnkovic Yugoslavian beginning to peep above the starting mix in the back left (it was planted the 13th, from 6 year old seeds, so it is a "go getter"). The one in the cell at the right edge of the picture is a Brandywine. The two in the back left cell of the tray in the back are Julia Childs. This little Julia Child seems to be a bit confused. These peppers were planted a week earlier but also sprouted yesterday. So far Aunt Ginny's Purple, Yellow Brandywine, Shuntukski Giant, and Olena Ukrainian have also sprouted out of the 40+ varieties I have planted. Still waiting for the other cells in the 6 packs to sprout. Now that I have more space in the flat that is on the heat mat, I'll be planting more tomatoes over the next few days and will do some cherry tomatoes last. I was wondering if I had started these too late, but they should all be about 6 weeks when we plant out around Memorial day. BTW, we had 3"+ of snow on Wednesday the 15th. Just a typical late spring last hurrah (I hope) for this area. Bets...See MorePost Your Tomato Pictures, Part 4
Comments (49)This is my first year growing tomatoes, so it's been quite an experience given our unusually cold and wet spring here in Seattle. I planted several plants from seed at the end of March and transplanted them just after Memorial Day. I had to keep them under hoops and plastic for the last month since we've barely reached 70ðF all spring. We're finally getting sunny, warm weather this week. Now my tomato plants have dozens of flowers, and they're finally setting fruit. Cherokee Purple heirloom plant Sungold with 3 tiny fruits and about a dozen flowers Flowers on a Black Krim heirloom plant, including a megabloom in the middle Closeup of the megabloom on a Black Krim heirloom plant...See Morehomertherat
