Linda's month is here, JUNE!

Let's make it a very memorable month for Linda!

My box went out today, USPS #0307 0020 0003 4325 6687. I know it's a little early, but priority takes at least two days.

thanks for the Happy Anniversaries, Ladies! WE went to a very nice AIR CONDTIONED restrurant and had an excellent meal.

Still extremely hot here...there's supposed to be a break by Saturday...."wiping face on shirt"

Hi Connie, I'm glad you like the pictures and glad to be able to work with them again. You asked about having a plan about growing hosta in pots. A plan? Ha!! I am crazy and greedy at the same time. I have to put them somewhere because I buy like a maniac. It is catching up with me as they increase and I find I have to get them into the ground. Last year, a disaster, I lost about 60 of 150+ that were in pots. That scared and depressed me no end. I worked really hard planting as many as I could. I ended up the year bringing about 30 in pots into the garage (making sure they were dryer than they were the year before). I had also bought 90 new ones so I feel I made some accomplishment in the net result. I love the look of the pots around the garden and sometimes stick them in a planting bed on top of bulbs or something done. I often can be found wandering aimlessly with a hosta in my hands waiting for a spot to call out to me that that is where it should go. It often works. I am trying to use duplicates in the pots in order not to worry about the losses. You asked how much is in garden. We have 10 acres but I would think the actual garden space would be similar to a large suburban yard. None of it is taken up with much lawn. The lawn is about 9 x 9 (down from 10 x 10). It's just enough to put a table and chairs on and to smell the grass when you cut it. The rest is driveway, patio, walkways and decks. I do have the woods. It would be the size of a large backyard. That is where my hostas are now headed. I knew when they all grew I would be able, eventually, to get them in the ground. Now it's a matter of how much energy I have to get the soil in place to plant them. I did a bit last year and will do more this year. At least I have the option. Hubby is mostly helpful and not too much of a hindrance. He great at building and likes creating the "built" part of things. He sometimes argues with how something will be done but I usually win. I look at things totally with what I want them to look like and he looks at things as to how than can be built. I think he thinks there are two kinds of flowers - roses and iris. Hi, This is Daniel. I want to say thank you for all the great seeds that were sent to me. I'm all finished organizing them and ready to plant but I have to wait for my mom and dad to make a space for me. My favorite seeds are the black nightfall beans. They look so cool. Hello Susan; You should have said something during your birthday month. I know some lobstermen and I also know some people who have FedEx accounts. I probably could have taken care of your lobster fix. They have become expensive now and will be until the middle of July because they are molting now and do not move around much so the catch dries up. End of July, beginning of August, remind me, I will check it out and let you know. They can be sent live and will live 24 hours or can be cooked and sent and will last much longer. We can talk about it. On a much more exciting note, I recieved a wonderful box from Nancy (cedarnest) today. It had lots of bulbs and a beautiful decorative plate. I did not have a chance to disect it because we were rushing out the door to get on our new boat. That nearly turned disasterous as the engine died out in the Atlantic and Bush arrived today so the Coast Guard first told us they were too busy to come and help. The company we have contracted with to assist us in just such an emergency refused to come because of an approaching storm. The story goes on and on sounding worse by the minute but then some friends we called said they would come tow us in, the coast guard called back and said they were sending a 47 foot boat out and a third boat showed up with a backyard mechanic on board who fixed out engine as our friends arrived to tow us in. We did not see the Coast Guard, they did not make it in time and we did make it home under our own power with our friends following in case we had trouble. Needless to say it was almost dark by the time we arrived home and the storm never materialized (thank God) but I made myself a drink and dinner and came to visit. I think I am getting too old for this. The only good news is that was the third life threatening situation for DH. He tipped his kayak about six weeks ago and I had to drag his butt and kayak to shore, then he crashed in an airplane but no injuries and finally we bobbed along in a dead boat in the Atlantic for two hours this evening. He keeps trying to say we were never in any danger but I think he is nuts. I am on drink number two so please pardon grammer and spelling. I will end this now. I am well but very tired. why thank you Ladies, for the birthday wishes. I think I'm going to poke around in my garden tomorrow, weather permitting, and then just take it easy...maybe be taken out to dinner...lay in my hammock.

Do any of you ladies have a hammock? I recommend it highly for toal relaxation and bird/butterfly watching....a little ice tea, a good book..ahhh....

my birthday was very nice actually. I spent time with family here and I'll be spending time with my family in Altoona next week. I chilled out and relaxed and hubby took me out to supper..worked for me!

Sonja's box arrived today and had all kinds of neat stuff inside:

and the cutest frog on a lily pad that looks like it's in a hammock. I swear it has the same expression on it's face that I must get when I lay on mine!

Double the fun! I also received Kara's box. Her's had inside:

matching tea towel (really cute)
painted metal plaque "all the flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of yesterday" (it will go on my fence)

Annie's box was on my porch this morning when I got up (I slept late) and this was what was in her box:

periwinkle & white gardening gloves (I've gone through 3 pairs already, I'm HARD on gloves.."L")
pink and white fuzzy socks (I love fuzzy socks!)
Romanitc Wish body butter=a mixture of pomeganate, freesia and cumcumber blossom (smells heavenly!)
cucumber melon hand gel (yummy)
Lenox Butterfly Meadow set of votives (they'll look perfect on my mantel)
M&M's tear and share (they were NOT shared..smacking lips)

I'm already working on my July box! I have all the 'goodies' already, and just need to pack the plants!

What great boxes your getting for your B-day month! I'm wondering why my box has yet to reach you. I have checked daily and it just keeps saying that it was accepted at Tewksbury p.o. on June,12th. I'm sorry that it's taking so long to reach you. I have a formal wedding this evening but I'll check back when I get in tonight,maybe it will come today.

When I came back from Altoona Deb's box arrived. It has all sorts of goodies and here's what was inside:

Strawberry candy daylily (both lilies are really pretty!)
little wine cup daylily
gold standard hosta (I love hosta's)
lamb's ear (these guys are so fuzzy)
notebook with flowers
shopping list with flower magnets (now I can say, write in on the list and hang it with the magnet)
blue striped gardening gloves (I always need gloves)
BIG bag of M&M's (which I hid..no I don't share.."L")

Deb, the plants are all in good shape and I'll be putting them in the ground today. Thank you so much, I loved everything!

I know that Lisa was fretting about her box but it arrived yesterday when I was away..(see? I only had to leave!) Here's what was in her box:

and all this was in a burgandy with white flower garden caddy..how cool is that?

Finally, it made it's way to you. I hope that you like all the goodies. I'm sorry that I didn't send any great plants. I didn't find any of your wants.I was pushing it with the lily bulbs, they weren't the right color.

I'm pretty anxious about my month coming. I haven't gotten a package in the mail yet, this was my first round robin. I'll be away on the ummm... I have to look into it and post later.

I have an idea if we move it up a month and lose December's person who would then become November's and so on....anyways,

If that happens, what would you ladies think of one last Gardener of the Month swap but swap names among each other so everyone sends and recieves one box for the Holidays? "wondering if I'm making sense at all"...what do you think?

I had sent Susan an email before I left to go out of town and told her to post here. I do not see a posting from her. There was an email from her on my return last night. Susan is experiencing some serious personal problems. She stated that she can not remember everyone who sent her boxes...she tried to post as she received her birthday boxes. As well, she said that she would try to send out a June box but could not promise! She said she would try to make up for any months that she missed but it might take a month or so........................

So shall we move the swap around just one more time??? Great idea for the month of December...A swap between
