so how do you get them started right?

I tried winter sowing this year and am pleased to see some germination with my toms just in the last few days. I'm very new to gardening, and am just happy to see something green.

I'm sure I'll be facing lots of issues to deal with, as I've apparently sown too early for my region, but I'm going to stay optimistic and hope my little guys make it.

So, regarding handling seedlings and getting them ready to go into the garden (a ways from now, but I'm trying to be prepared), what sorts of voodoo do any of you do?

When learning last year, I had made notes to myself to spray with chamomile tea and sprinkle cornmeal, etc...

Anyone have any good suggestions for helping the little ones get a good healthy start? I shouldn't be fertilizing until they're in the garden certainly... but does anyone make any cocktails for them to help them be healthy and strong and ward off pests and things?

Thanks, I'm rather clueless here, any advice is appreciated.
