Comments (1)Freegle, The little babies are supposed to come out through the soil. They're not supposed to grow from the cut edge of the leaf. It would be best if you put it in as small a pot as you can and put them in larger pots as they grow. Plastic solo cups (the ones that are 2 in. across the mouth) work real good. Make sure you poke holes in the bottom for drainage. Then don't pot them in anything larger until they are more than 6 in. across. Convention for pots size is that the pot should the 1/3 the diameter of the plant. Good luck, Larry...See MoreRepotted wax jambu in shock
Comments (5)I took two air-layered cuttings about 1.5 month ago. One with barely any root development, the other with roots running around 2" -I managed to break some of them with poor handling as well. Planted both in 5-gallon pots using kellogg patio plus and left outside in full sun from day one. They were ravaged by santa ana wind several days after & reduced to just twigs. But I kept on watering it thoroughly every other day until now. They're both showing new growth, though the cutting with better developed roots growing much faster. If the root ball look healthy, it should be fine. Just give it time to recover. If the stems are still green, it's still good. Heck, some branch tips on mine are completely brown & dried two weeks in but the rest of the plant survived. They're pretty hardy so no need to stress. Tim...See MoreWax Jambu Question
Comments (5)Andi, Glad to hear that one of your Jambus has got flowers already! That's really exciting. I remember when my fruited, I was so excited to see the pink fruit plumbing up. Now, I'll have to just dream about them. I think this is the time they should be doing their thing. Hope to see more updates of your fruiting tree. You definitely are right to say that a branch that grows so tall up is likely to cause problem than of any help to the development of the tree. I think I'll just go ahead to tip that branch off. Probably by doing so, it can promote some lateral growth for next year's fruit production (hopefully). That said, I don't know if it fruits more than once a year, although I haven't seen it doing that in the past before. Thanks for sharing about yours and the feedback--really appreciate it....See MoreEggo
