Aunt Ginny's Purple - Success at last

I've always wanted to try Aunt Ginny's Purple since reading Carolyn's positive comments in '100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden'. I planted two in early October and they have both topped 7 feet and still growing. I'm delighted with the number of tomatoes that have set and I picked the first a week or so ago. Beautiful rich and complex flavour.

I had a couple for Sunday lunch yesterday. BLT's I don't believe are as popular in Australia as in the U.S. Our food culture has been greatly influenced by immigrants from the Mediterranean (especially Greek and Italian) as well as more recently by settlers from S.E.Asia.

I spread pesto on a panne di casa roll and topped it with home-grown romaine lettuce and basil as well as slices of avocado buffalo mozzarella cheese and Aunt Ginny's. Delicious!! Roll on (northern) summer!
