Newbie here starting indoors zone 5

Hi all,

I discovered last year too late how easy growing tomatoes are from seed. This year I have collected seed to grow for local fundraisers, family, and friends, and want to make sure they are ready in time to plant in zones 4b and 5a and enjoy during the season.

I have paste, fresh eating, cherry, and patio types. A couple of large fruiting ones too. My plan is to start the seeds in paper towels and baggies, then transfer them to small pots. I will be using only natural light, and covering them with clear, ventilated plastic.

Would starting them now be too early? Does my method have too many steps, or inefficient?

Many thanks!
