Are you sure that is cold damage on the Star Apple?
How cold did it get? I know they can survive down
to -1C.

The damage looks like very similar to drought. Could it
be that the root ball is not getting properly watered?
If the plant was root bound in the pot it might be difficult
to get it properly watered. Caimitos needs plenty of water!!!

Robyn, its about 2 miles from me. A fellow family member who I did help get acquainted with some of those tropical trees, hehe. Braver than me, he will be attempting some coconuts this year, lol.
Siafu, you may be right. I'm not too sure what happen there. I was told it happen over a few days during winter. I've read that it could stand cold pretty well too, the thing is that its quite rare around this area so something may be keeping people from planting it, root rot maybe. The soil there is almost like sand, drains extremely well, maybe too well I've seen. So this could have been some drought damage.

One day my goal is to have something similar to yours. Im growing lychee and longan rite now. Trying for jackfruit too but I dont think it can handle our sub-tropical condition 9a. This summer I will plant down my apple custard which by the way is about 2 ft tall, directly from seedling.
