I used some of the resources at this site and I reckon I have ascertained that the seedlings in one of my beds, which are slow and yellowing, are suffering an Iron Defiency.
This is consistent with calcareous soils, says the article. And the pic of the leaves looks very familiar. What's more, I splashed around some dolomite before planting in this bed and may have been too liberal.
Question: When I go and buy Iron (sulphate?) or whatever the thing is that corrects the iron deficiency is it possible to over-dose the soil? Can you apply too much iron?
I'm pretty dumb when it comes to chemistry and biology, but I imagine metals would be hard to remove from soil.
Silly me. Seems I make one good mistake every year. In this bed are two of Earl's Faux and some other rippers (our little secret, right) And thanks. :)Grub.
