Tallying up the harvest

This was our first full year of square foot gardening and we kept detailed records to help tell just how well it worked. Now that the summer is well and truely over I decided it was time to add up the harvest. This is what we've harvested so far this year:

Crop, Plant, Leaf, Fruit / Pod

Spinach, 9, 53, 0

Lettuce, 61.25, 38, 0

Onions, 29,

Shallots, 27, 0, 0

Garlic, 37, 0, 0

Peas, 0, 0, 236

Pole Beans,0 0, 833

Bush Beans,0, 0, 349

Corn, 0, 0, 11

Zuchini squash,0, 0, 35

Sunburst squash,0, 0, 38

Delicata squash,0, 0, 0

Tomatoes, 0, 0, 715

Cucumbers, 0, 0, 2

Basil, 0, 449, 0

Pac Choi, 0, 0, 0

Cauliflower 0, 0, 0

Leek TBD

Carrot 11, 0, 0

I knew this was the most successful year we'd ever had in the vegetable garden but there's nothing like having the numbers to bring it into perspective. I'm actually a little stunned. This was the first year we spent more time harvesting crops than weeding. The quality of the produce was better than anything we could buy or have grown before. I now believe, SFG works.

The above harvest was reaped from March through September from four 4x4 raised beds and an 8x6 greenhouse (an HFG containing three 2x6 raised beds)that was added in June.
