Trellis materials

Hi everyone! I'm planning to make my first square foot garden beds this fall to have ready to plant in the spring. Was wondering - do you all use the metal trellis design as recommended by Mel? I had made one a few years ago (at a previous house where I had 1 block), but wasn't too crazy about the look of the metal. Aesthetics are important in my vegetable garden, as it has to be situated in my front yard (the only sunny spot). I thought of using copper instead of steel, but in his book he said that he found the copper wasn't strong enough

I grew some tomatoes in pots this year, and just sunk a long bamboo stake in each pot and that worked well for trellising the tomatoes. I'm debating whether to try that next year, or to build Mel's trellises. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!
