I agree with Keriann. Yes, you should really let them dry out. Matter of fact, once my seedlings are as big as yours, I let them dry out pretty much all the way before I water again. You can tell they need watered when you pick up the flat and it feels light as a feather. Then after you water, it's much heavier. Your method of bottom watering is quite unique, I must say. I think that most folks bottom water the way I do, which is to say setting the cells or cups into a tray of water and letting the plant absorb as much as it wants until you see moisture on the surface of the soil (usually takes anywhere from 5-20 min). Now, I can't say for sure what positive or negative effects your method of watering might have, except that it sure sounds like a pain in the hiney to me, and I somehow doubt that the soil is getting properly saturated. You want to simulate mother nature; a soaking rain. Then you want to let the soil dry out. That's how it is in nature. Roots need water yes, because the plant needs water, but then they need to dry out and get oxygen. Damp soil all the time = no oxygen to the roots. Now, I can't say for certain what part of your program is causing your issues, but I would start bottom watering them as described by letting them absorb water sitting in a tray. I think you will find that using this method, you should only have to water every 3-4 days, or less. I would lay off the ferts for a while, and then make sure only to fertilize when the soil is already damp, or you will burn the roots. I just mix the fert with water, then pour into a tray and bottom water as usual. Give this a shot, see if that doesn't help.

Siam, Kent was trying to help you to explain something important. I do not see he has an agenda. You might apologize to him as what you said is harsh and untrue. Kent helped me in my early days of growing, and I am ever grateful to him. Do not burn bridges with someone from whom you can learn a lot. And I hate to see people 'fall out' over a misunderstanding. As for seeds of hybrid cannas, as Kent is explaining, they do not grow seedlings true to their parents. It is ok to say that 'Flame' is the pod parent the seeds came from, but also state that any seedlings will not be the parent or called 'Flame', as they will be new hybrids. I don't know which 'Flame' Keith sent these seeds, but if it is from Chiltern's .. which I thought it was .. this seedling is not that as it has a small orange flower and this seedling does not. Based on your description that its only impacting the green wood of a mature plant it could be sunburn. I have seen similar on my plants too and besides aesthetics no long term damage was experienced. I would monitor to see if its spreading and if there is a concern then test an area with an anti-fungal treatment. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

The plants in self-watering containers and in 5-gallon grow bags are both exhibiting the leaf roll. However, I do have 2 5-gallon grow bags that have plants in partial shade which do not exhibit leaf roll and are just as big, if not bigger, than those in the self-watering containers. I'm thinking the leaf roll may be root stress related. Either the 5-gallon containers/bags have become too small, the container gets too hot thus stressing the roots, or the potting soil has finally compacted and isn't delivering enough oxygen to the roots. I have tomato plants in raised beds as well and I haven't noticed any leaf roll with them. I have noticed a few had yellowing leaves w/brown spots (3rd picture), however.
