I haven't noticed any posts from EG...did he get stuck in the red clay mud in AL? Or is he busy building something to impress us all?

i know, i better get onto that, i've got this 12 yr old who don't want to do his pre algebra, dang kid!! LOL i'm on it!!! LOL probably using that busy at the work or his stepson!! ya, that'll be his excuse!!! LOL **big grinn** ~Medo

When I read this Seedmama I thought, oh boy, I'll make her day, I CLIPPED that discussion about irrigation because I was so interested in it. But I went to my clips and it is not there.....so sorry! I am going to check my old email. Because Donn is in on Long Island like I am, I occationally would pm him about certain things and maybe that is where I remember going back to read what he wrote. I know he had quite a bit of his yard (many beds) set up on drip with timers at the faucet. I know this because when I asked irrigation guys to set up our yard like this, they looked at me like I had two heads! For lots of reasons they talked me out of it and we went this year with automatic sprinkler irrigation (already a big bed has been changed to drip because the plants just got too tall blocking the sprinklers) I will check for email and let you know. OT where to stay near norman

Drat! I just typed a really long response and the computer ate it. Grrrr. Okay, here goes again: We have stayed in A LOT of hotels in OKC over the years. I don't know what your budget is, so I apologize if these are not in the price range you are looking at. Downtown OKC: The OKC Festival of the Arts is going on the weekend of the Spring Fling, so if you wanted to stay downtown, you could walk to the Arts Festival and window shop and eat delicious food. The Downtown Sheraton, Marriot Renaissance, and Marriot Courtyard are all just outside of Bricktown and within easy walking distance to the Arts Festival. The Marriot Residence Inn is a little further from the Arts Festival, but has cheaper parking and is next door to Bass Pro. We've stayed in all of these hotels and never had any problems. They will all charge for parking, so keep that in mind. If you like Casinos, there are two casino hotels not far from Paula: The Grand Hotel near Shawnee on i 40 and the Riverwind Hotel in Norman. We aren't casino people, so haven't stayed at either. In Norman, we have stayed at the Embassy Suites and the Courtyard. The are both close to a lot of places to eat. In Midwest City, we have stayed at the Sheraton Reed Center too many times to count. There's not a lot to do in MWC, but the hotel is safe and nice enough and would be a pretty short drive to Paula's. In South OKC we have stayed at the Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn, both at the junction of I240 and I35. This probably isn't the best area, but we didn't have any problems at all at these hotels. There are quite a few hotels by the airport that might be cheaper than the other options, but that would be a longer drive to the Spring Fling. Let me know if you have any questions about those. Thanks everyone for any thoughts and prayers! The meeting went well. It is official the juvenile unit and the department of child services has asked for him to be placed in a foster home. I'm going to try and make this long long long think like 9 years worht of drama, short. My stepsons bio mom is a loser. She is irresponsible, has about 38 things against her in open records, she has never been stable in his life, and has moved from guy to guy. Aside from my 10yo stepson, she has another daughter who is 13 who lives with her dad, and a 5yo daughter who lives with her for now. Over the course of the last 6 years the kids were all exposed to various types of pornography. Starting when DSS was 4. This came about when there was some inappropriate touching amongst him, his older sis, and his moms then boyfriends daughter. The kids have seen playboys laying around and would watch porn on the computer while left home alone. The supervision has NEVER been good at her home. NEVER. She leaves all 3 kids home alone while she is out running around. Well the inappropriate touching NEVER STOPPED. And it went from the 2 older kids, to DSS then going on to his 5yo sister. Back in April we got a call late on a Friday night from the mom demanding my husband go pick his son up. To which he did. To which I freaked out and called the police. I didnt want him ehre with MY babies. So it has been on going since then. He was removed from her home except every other weekend when his sisters are with their dads and has been in my care full time. Its been in the court both on charges against him and also child protective services. A CHIPS order was put into place this last month and he goes for his final dispositional hearing on Sept 16th to which he plead guilty to 3 counts of 4th degree sexual assault of a child. (remember, he himself is 10.) So through all of this, I have had to have strict, non-stop supervision on the kids. I can not go to the bathroom w/o either first sending him up to his room and setting the alarm on his bedroom door, or taking the 2 lil ones into the bathroom with me. He is NEVER to be left out of direct sight of an adult while there are other children around. I could not take him to the pool. I could nto take him to the park. I could not have my friends over who have girls. I lost the little girl that I was babysitting when this happened. The CPS Supervisor said it best yesterday "You've been a prisoner in your own home all summer due to his level of supervision that is needed." Now my husband is rarely home and when home its never at the same time, so I'm mostly alone day and night while he's on the trains. He obviously is not taking ANY of this well. A LOT of denial, a lot of blame, but not much in regards to "coping." So the good news is that it is official that he is going to be placed elsewhere, its just a matter of time. They need to find a home with for sure, no YOUNGER children. And also one where there is treatment available to him (it has been assessed that he has no internal barriers to stop him from doing it again, we've had A LOT of behavioral issues with him ALWAYS, hes been on all different meds,i n counseling for 4 years, 2 different schools, etc). So that about sums up the last 9 years of my life. LOL. I know its bad, and I know its personal, but meh, these boards are like my own journals that give me support! LOL. Soon soon soon, I will have a happy, less stress, safe home back for my little ones. They deserve so much more than what its been like living in this house the lats few months. And EG, I am ALLLLLL about your melons!! Bring em!

I'm reading all the posts, even when I'm not responding by typing, I am thinking about you all and praying for you when needed, like EG's daughter needs especially right now. As for worrying about the spirituality of others, well, all we can do is be an example and pray for them. I know in my home that it has made a world of difference when I get closer to the Lord... that's all we can do as it's their decision about their own walk... As for spirits, those that call on Jesus name can kick the BUTT out of anything that isn't off God... try that and see! We made a nasty spirit leave our current home... most people would have called it a ghost. It scared the crap out me for a long time, our tenants (before we moved in the home ourselves, we had rented it) gave us some really scary stories, too, but regardless they HAVE to flee, but ONLY IN JESUS NAME). (Okay, now that everyone thinks I'm crazier than before, I'll change the subject...) Hannah just finished her second week (2 days a week) of tennis. The scar on her leg is mostly healed except at the bottom, but it looks like it's going to turn into a callus... not sure if that's good or bad, but sounds good to me right now... I may still have to go to Dallas to get an adjustment on her prosthesis. I can't blame you, Granny, for wanting to be there for a little bit after the baby is born. I didn't have the opportunity to get online yesterday. I was putting the finishing touches on granny's rocket boosters for getting that rocking chair down from the truck. I am designing something to build, though....hee hee. I'm making the drawings for it now.(Just a little something for the gardening experience) You'll see it, when I get finished with it. It's gonna be sweet!

LOL his problem, didn't understand the math, kids!!! so we stayed up til 11 and worked on it. pretty easy actually. and to think i didn't understand it in highschool!! LOL **big grinn** ~Medo

Medo - I only found out this morning....a little birdie told me. Anyway, I fully understand the issue with kids and math. Good lord...You tell them that the 16-bit representation of 1345 is 0001001101000101, and they look at you like you're on crack or something. Geez....

See, I told you he was building a rocket!

Anxious to see what you come up with, EG. I built three garden beds yesterday, but I couldn't get the screws to suck in the boards on two ends, which upsets the heck out of me. I like straight corners with no gaps! Nothing I can do about it, I guess. I'll just have to plant a droopy groundcover to hide it from view.

ya we arent that far yet!! we are only to distibrutive sp properties right now. heck i was so happy that i actually got it on my own!! LOL now my girl is gonna be the one into geometry i think, she plays with all the geometry things. and really loves the shapes and figures. i can't wait till she gets into the equations and things, i think she'll love it!! :') ~Medo

I am a bit of a perfectionist myself, so those beds would of drove me crazy, too. Try not to get too upset, though. As you said, the plants will cover it up. You're probably the only one that'll even notice it.

Congrats on all the hard work you guys did, Granny and EG. I can't wait to see more pictures! Medo, sorry about all the math with the kids. I hope that they're doing great.

Ahh, good! EG was found, Granny's about to take a ride into the atmosphere where she won't be able to see her crooked corners, medo is reliving nightmares of her youth via grade school math, and everyone else in here is still crazy after all these years. Or days. Anyhoo. :)

HEY GEUSS WHAT??? I as in ME, fixed my dang pc!! all by myself!! WOOO HOOOO!!! LOL i went into system restore place that i found accidently and looked through some stuff and reinstalled humvee?? dvd and now its all back to normal!! i am the total bomb!! and i don't feel like a total d.a. anymore!!! LOL usually hubs has to fix it and he couldn't!! its nice to know i can do something!!! LOL ok, man i did miss the laughs!! LOL i know it was only a little while!!
