Have committed major gardening Faux Pas

Have 2 3x12 foot raised beds (12" high) of yukon and kennebec potatoes. True Confession Time: I didn't hill them. !!!!! Is that a major gardening sin, or what? The plants look just beautiful! They are blooming now. But I probably won't get a good yield, huh?

For what it's worth, I did mulch them when the plants were about 8" tall, mulched them with about 4 to 6" of old hay. My dad thinks that because my raised bed soil is so nice and loose, that they will go ahead and produce anyway, but I'm not sure! Me being a newby and all.... Anyway, maybe I'll have to put my hand down in there and find out if there are indeed, any potatoes that have grown. I have concerns that the plants put too much energy into the beautiful plant-tops and not enough into tuber development? Opinions anyone?
