Assuming you will not get in trouble I would take the tree to the office from september 21 to march 21 and keep the plant at home with a CFL during the spring and summer. In sumer the sun rizes and set north of the east and west and must rize very high towards noon before the sun crosses to the south. Even then the angle is so sharp the sun will not make it through the low-E argon vapor barior glass and your tree will suffer. In the winter months however your tree will get sun the entire day at the office as the sun is low and will make it through the glass. This one always catches my attention in the Ballard's catalog - I really like the look and am considering it for my home. The one you found is fluorescent and I personally don't like fluorescent light especially from a ceiling fixture. And regardless of the new lighting regulations (which I have a feeling may not happen as proposed) I don't buy fluorescent only fixtures because I want options. Both products are made in China which doesn't make me happy. I called Lamps Plus and all their products are made in China with the exception of one German line. That's a hard battle to fight. Why can't you use a true 105 watt (not "equivalent watt") CFL in whatever fixture you are thinking about? If you don't dislike the aesthetics of purple light, there are plenty of red and blue LED spotlights available from Chinese Ebay stores. In that case, you wouldn't need a reflector. In any event, it would be a waste of electricity to have the plant light on while your plant is receiving full sunlight through a window. You should consider only turning the light on while the plant receives less than full sunlight, i.e., during cloudy days and at night during the short day months.
