Hello Everyone! I have decided that I want to try the square foot gardening method this year since I have never had much luck with traditional gardens. My soil is aweful and is so full of rocks that it's no wonder nothing grows. Anyway, I was wondering what experience people in this community have had with using dirt free "soil" in their gardens. I keep seeing that 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 sphagnum peat moss, and 1/3 compost works well but I was wondering if other people have had success with different combinations. Some information that I have found says to use perlite in place of the vermiculite, some says to use vermiculite and perlite...and I don't know what to do...SIGH. I am also having a terrible time finding compost in my area of south central PA so if anyone knows of a place I can find it I would be grateful for the info. Thanks in advance for the help!!!
