How ro add info to the FAQs for a Forum

Does anyone know who to contact if you would like to add information to the FAQ of a particular forum? Some of the data is dated and needs updating/amending? I am more than willing to help out on the Clematis forum but don't know whom to contact? Thanks for any help!

The FAQ topics that are posted there now should
contain the name of the person who posted them.
You could start by contacting that person.
If that person is no longer an active member
then you would need to contact Garden Web staff.

While I think that the "FAQ" as outlined by swanoir was presented tongue in cheek ('the humus'), many of the subsequent comments and/or links to threads that could/should be included in a FAQ were presented in a more serious tone. And maybe they do make sense as a foundation to a real LD forum FAQ. But I've also sensed something else in these comments that may contribute to the apparent lack of communication between new posters seeking advice and those that regularly frequent this forum and offer it. And that is that the long checklist provided by Miss R must be (or should be) answered in detail before posting. Well, of course not! But it is definitely something worth reviewing and giving some thought to. This checklist, or something very similar, is what most designers utilize when first meeting with a prospective client. It gives them a feeling for what the client wants to do with the property, how they intend to use it, what they hope to get out of it and how much effort (time/$$) are they are intending to put into it. Hopefully, reviewing an outline or checklist such as this could help to refine and focus some of those blank slate questions and even educate those new posters totally unfamiliar with the process the degree of complexity, the number of variables and exactly what is involved in the formulation of a landscape design. Even DIY landscape texts intended for the homeowner with no previous design or landscaping experience offer similar checklists to get one started thinking about the process. Obviously, this is overkill for those questions that are more issue-specific, but I think very appropriate for those that are much broader and far less focused.

I agree with SQH1. When I was starting I tried to get my information from this and other forums. The problem is that people tend to give very specific answers in response to questions asked here. It was very hard trying to get a coherent picture of vermiculture by reading so many disjoint bits and pieces. After a while I bought and read "Worms Eat My Garbage". It laid out pretty much the whole story in a logical way. Once I had that background I was able to make much better use of the information presented here. I still continue to learn from the forums because "Worms Eat My Garbage" is not the end-all of information. The best part is that I can recognize which postings provide generally accepted "best practices" that apply to everyone and which posting present alternative methods of doing things ( top feeding vs. pocket feeding for example). Without a good understanding of the big picture you risk simply becoming more confused by the many options offered here. While I agree that a FAQ could be a good idea you have to remember that it would just be a collection of some of the same posts that are causing you confusion now. Mike

As far as the rest of it goes, for you, You have a choice - Deal with it, or Don't. Pretty simple, eh? If you choose to Deal with it, you will get a tremendously varied & experienced wealth of information - but (like the rest of us), you need to work for it. Yes, you will read a lot of stuff that you don't need - that is what "skimming" is all about. If you choose to Not Deal with it, then we all wish you the best of luck I'm sure. But you should be careful about your judgement calls about those here on the board - you literally have no idea with whom you are speaking at any given time. When you come to a Party & throw red paint in our face & on everyone's decor, what type of welcome to you expect?? Seriously..... LOL

http://letters.gardenweb.com/letters/mailed.html once worked for business related technical issues but it hasn't gotten much results since before labor day. You could try it. Can't hurt to try -- usually.

Duh. Finally got in touch with Tamara who had posted on this forum in response to another question. She pointed out that there is a Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. Hadn't even seen that! Guess no one else had either! Live and learn.
