Comments (166)Hi Signet, I've potted up an alcea rugosa (?) butter yellow hollyhock with fig leaves for you. My downy wood mint seems to have disappeared too. I'm half way through potting things up :-p I've been potting up other stuff for my plant sale the following week. Thank goodness for my new potting bench that Matt finished on Saturday!! Now I can do 30 pots in the time it used to take to do 10 _and_ still be able to stand up straight! Thankfully the next half of the potting up is the easy stuff. The 17 small plants from cuttings which won't take long once I get my kitchen back. Looks like it won't be so crazy hot tomorrow, and even a bit cloudy, so I can send the houseplants outside for their summer vacations! Because of the fear of lily beetles, I'll just bag the lilies the day before the swap with no dirt attached. I had hoped to get the cannas and dahlias planted this weekend, but it was too hot, and the weeds in that section of the front yard have gone nuts. WMC1 & NavyGirl01 - is their anything on my list that you would trade for a green or a non pink echinacea? I just found a Stokes blue aster as I was weeding & digging up the Yellow toadflax for Lilac....See MoreWANTED: Hostas-exchange or secret swap
Comments (10)Hi Kathy-I'm Kim. I am in Stoney Creek. I would love to get involved with an exchange. I've never organized one either but I will try to contact the people that have done so in the States-maybe I'll be able to find out how they did it and then we could get something going here. Check out my wish list and listing-see if there is something I can help you with or maybe we could do our own swap. Let me know-keep in touch.Maybe others will get involved too-that would be nice. Take care and happy gardening, Kim...See MoreWANTED: Gala Plant Exchange
Comments (10)Haha! My thanks for taking such particular notice of my fancies. I'm in the far reaches of the Hudson Valley, the western part of Orange county. I don't consider it part of the valley at all. But calling it upstate seems equally a lie when I'm still in the southern tier. Then again, anything north of Rockland classifies as upstate to the city folk. Lovely part about here is I can play the pipes often as I like without fear of disturbing the neighbors. It's lovely to listen to it all echo off the hills. Hudson Valley gardeners! I charge you to go forth and spread the word about this plant exchange! Let's get something good going on here....See MoreWanted a 'conversations'section for this forum.
Comments (27)Well.....I am in my 3rd month of my first Round Robin (Secret Pal for a year) and already have next months box packed for my Secret Pal. I have to share my wonderful surprise today! I went to WallyWorld and at the very top of the plant sections were all kinds of BEAUTIFUL African Violets (my Secret Pal saves these and I found some AWESOME African Violet pots at Marden's for $1.99 each). Anyways, I couldn't see the very top of the plant shelf as I'm a 5'4" Maine Polar Bear *lol* so I went to the patio furniture dept. and grabbed a plastic lawn chair. When I stood up on the chair I was amazed at the beautiful varieties that were there. I carefully picked out the 4 best ones but didn't see a price. When I was leaving the garden section an employee was lingering about so I asked her "how much are these"......guess what she said?.......$1.94!!!! I was tickled pink! I have found some of the cutest things for my Secret Pal! I think I get more excited shopping for her than I do receiving from my Secret Pal. Everytime I come home from the store hubby will say......"whose that for"? I reply....My Secret Pal. He says....."wish I were your Secret Pal" *lol*. Yesterday in the car we were talking and he told me about the computer stuff he bought (didn't understand half of what he said but nodded and ummmm hummmmed along)......I thought this would be a good time to tell him....Guess what? I joined another Secret Pal today *lol*. He took it well, better than I thought he would *lol*. Hubby and I were neighbors since we were 12 years old. We were always best friends but I didn't want to ruin the friendship by being boyfriend/girlfriend. At 22 we were married and have been married for 13 years. We have a 15 1/2 year old son (hubby adopted him as his father gave him up without seeing him....a blessing in disguise) and an 11 year old girl. We have 1 cat who thinks he's human and loves to follow me around the gardens. I have recently updated my "ME" page here so check it out as it has a picture of Kazz on it. I LOVE it here and have met some of the very nicest people in the world. I am addicting to trading plants and wake up each morning with a cup of coffee and the forums. I think a conversation link would be great as I don't see much "conversations" going on in the actual "exchange" Round Robin threads. Nice to chat w/cha all. Kim...See More- 19 years ago
