I'm not doing so much in the garden now. These first few cold days chase me back inside until my blood gets used to it. I come out on the occasional warm days. The only digging I do lately is on native plant rescues. Went on Sunday and got some nice things: evergreen galax, maidenhair fern (now dormant), witch hazel (there was a beautiful one about 10 feet tall that had been knocked down by the loggers; it was blooming up a storm!) and other things. I planted most of this in a side area that I have been enhancing lately. Can't wait to see how it looks come spring. An idea for your newsletter, Yo, is taking time to evaluate the garden for winter interest. Now that the foliage is gone, what looks good, what areas need structure? How could you make improvements to make it look better next winter. Luckily in this area, trees and shrubs can still be planted. Adding benches and other hardscape materials can be done any time.

I post on the Fruit and Orchards forum and the people over there are forever taking about the best ways to net blueberries so the birds don't eat them all. I know that when I was first looking into bird attracting berries no one ever mentioned blueberries but the birds go nuts over them. Anyway, before I planted the 12 new blueberries I already had about 20 in my yard but many of those are not mature so only afew are giving fruit. I just kept planting more blueberries so that there might be enough for everyone. When these two newer batches of Blueberry shrubs mature, there surely should be enough. I like to go out in the morning and eat ripe blueberries straight off the shrubs. So far there has never been enough to actually pick some to bring inside. Good timing on my planting as it raining today so they should get a good soaking, along with the hardy and fragrant lily bulbs I planted this week and lots of rose shrubs because they are pretty.

Oh, I laughed out loud. I swear I've gotten every e-mail mentioned. One day I flushed the toilet while in a short nightgown, and I felt a drop of water hit my leg. So I did throw away my toothbrush and I always have a cover on it now (not the one I threw away! a new one). Thanks for posting this, it made my night. (Oh, and I had my hand on the mouse, too.)

When I first read the article, I thought about the GW forums. Some of them are dwindling; KT actually being one of them. When I first got on the Internet, I surfed around to see what it was all about. I ran across boards and forums about every topic imaginable, but I was shocked to see the language that was used on many of them. I could not believe such foul words could be allowed!! I despise foul language and was happy to learn there are some places where that is not the case. I started looking for flower gardening help and fortunately found Garden Web. Then I realized there were so many other forums. I checked several of them out and found that for the most part people were nice and willing to share their knowledge and tips. I stayed with Garden Party until someone there mentioned a new forum...Kitchen Table. I was among the first 4-5 to "join up." I tried the chat group here at KT, but since I'm not a typist, I couldn't keep up with the conversation so I gave up on that. So yes, KT is not like it was back when; I guess that is par for the course. Finding CompHelp has been my PC lifesaver. I go there first each day, to see if there is something new or alerts about the "bad guys," etc. Facebook is obviously very popular; according to one report 600 million people visit Facebook each month, and half come back every day. No idea the number for Garden Web forums, which are basically garden related. I am on FB because a niece asked me to join, but I don't really use it much. I can do just as well with email. Lazypup, I think your remark was unnecessary, added nothing to the discussion, and could be very hurtful to some who have gone through the agony that you can not even imagine.
