It isn't generally recommended. There are many discussions about it ongoing over on the Soil & Compost forum here and I linked some of the recent ones below. With a few exceptions where the dog and cat feces are composted in a separate container and not used on any food crops, or where the feces are HOT composted for several months first, I think you'll find most say no. Not that you can avoid the visiting dog or cat in the garden all the time but "intenionally" and in large amounts, no. Personally I wouldn't. Does it say weed seed free? I'm not familiar with that brand, but the product I buy at Lowes says 'weed seed free' and so far it has been. On doing a google search, I see that WF is a product of Scotts -- when I click onto the Steer Manure for more product information, it is stunningly unhelpful. The five-star rating is by "1 person". Hmmmmm. If the bag label is as unforthcoming as the website, no wonder you are asking for experiences from other organic users. Ganesh, The term "various sources" means that you want compost that is created from different things, such as: mushroom compost (based on mushrooms as the main ingredient), then cow compost (based on cow manure as the main ingredient). Mel suggests that you use five different types of compost. In my first SFG, I used mushroom, horse, cow and some homemade compost. I firmly believe homemade is the best because you add so many different ingredients. I've added both kangaroo and chicken manure to my compost barrel, along with horse poo (from horses riding down the street).
