If they don't get a MEAT Forum you should elect a MEAT Leader who would scour all the GW posts for those gardeners that have problems with deer (venison). Alot of the gardeners are starting to shoot the deer that eat their garden plants; they also shoot alot of other animals, but not meat animals. They shoot woodchucks, rabbitts, squirrils (I can't spell them), racoons, opossums, and other varmits. Your leader could contact these shooters and find out what they do with the venison and then report back to everyone with information on smoking, butchering, seasoning, preparing and storage.

Hey, Kay, yes, the million bells are still in the "swimming pool garden" but all the roses are gone. When my husband had so many health problems in 2014 I was doing all the work because he was physically incapacitated for months. I had to prune all the roses, do all the cleanup plus everything else inside and outside. Last year, we decided to do away with the roses there and we came up with a different idea. First. we were going to put in a gazebo, but decided it's too hot there in the summertime, so here are some pictures taken last year when we first started the changes. We used a cattle fencing panel bent into a "Gothic" shape and planted moonflower vines on it. The plants you see to the left are cuphea "Starfire Pink" which we really like, bloom all summer with small pink flowers, great for pollinators. The other shrubs you see are butterfly bushes. Now to the million bells. This picture was taken a few days ago. You will see there are no flowers on the arch, but the moonflowers have been planted and will look great in summer. Strangely enough, the cupheas we had on the west side did not survive--we can't figure why they didn't make it since the ones on the east are all coming up now. But, the replacement plants will be here in May, ordered from Annie's in Ca. Naturally, in a few months when everything is in full bloom, I will post pics, but the million bells will probably be bloomed out by then. They do return briefly in the fall for us.
