Very slow loading on the THS side past few days

Every forum I visit on the THS side has been loading at a snail's pace the past few days. No problem on the GW side.

Yea ... you finally got your nasturtium blooms! Your tomatoes are progressing nicely. I am VERY jealous of your gourds though ;) My cucuzzi plant doesn't seem to even to thinking about producing yet. That first dark hollyhock looks like the ones I have in the backyard. Unfortunately, I've had a Japanese beetle attack so I'm gonna need to cut them all back, along with the rose bush. Thankfully, they didn't mess with much else. Love the echinacea too. I will have to wait until next year to see blooms on mine.

I like the look of mountains. In fall we usually spend a few days in the Smokies, crunching leaves underfoot while roaming around the park and the mountains. Now that, I find breathtaking. When renting a house, my main criteria is a spectacular mountain view with a house attached to it! A couple of years ago we visited Wa and I thought it must be the prettiest place on earth. But our travels were limited to the Olympic Peninsula. Again, we gravitated to the mountains, rainforests, and west coast beaches. Vera's terrain in eastern Wa is totally different. I guess the only common denomonater is lush, beautiful flowers. But in think Vera could grow beautiful flowers in concrete. Most vacations we spend on ocean beaches- Caribbean in winter, Gulf beaches in summer. Why do I live in Ohio??? Karen

Annie I too would never serve eggs with fish at home...at the time we just took the fastest dishes on the menu as it was late and we were hungry lol! Here they always seem to add an egg onto combo plates served in touristic eateries. Eggs together with a hamburger pattie and chips is common. Never have I ever seen a Caesar salad on a Spanish menu though. Just seems to be unknown over here. As a point of interest, you won't find burgers or sandwiches on restaurant menus here as I've seen in Canada. When you order a hamburger (hamburguesa) you get a meat pattie with vegetables. You have to go to a McD or similar to get the ones in buns, and for a bocadillo....a sandwich made from a baquette you would go to a bar or cafe where they may also have toasted ham & cheese sandwiches. However if you're in the neighbourhood of an English bar or pub you could probably get a sandwich as their food is planned more for British tourists. SharonCb

If you have Windows XP, here's a nice, easy way to resize photos. Download and install the XP Image Resizer Powertoy from Microsoft via the link below. Once installed, all you have to do is right-click on an image file (I know it handles jpg/gif files and it may handle others as well). You will now see an option to "Resize Pictures." Click on "Resize Pictures" and you will be given a menu that looks like this: Choose the option that you'd like and click OK. You can use the advanced button to enter a custom size. The tool will leave your original picture untouched. It simply creates another file named "imagename (small).jpg" or medium or large, etc. You can easily resize multiple pictures this way by selecting multiple items from your explorer window (using the CTRL or Shift key), right-clicking and selecting "Resize Pictures". It's a really nice little tool that most people don't know exists and it's much easier than doing the same thing via image editing software. And it's free. Lately the THS forums have been up to speed at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time, while you folks on the Left Coast were still asleep, but by noon it's very slow here too. It would be interesting to know the geographic distribution of the regulars on this site: maybe a New Year remodeling frenzy has swept through California....

1st off ....what does THS stand for???

i thought this slow, slow, slow stuff was MY computer.... i have had the at&t guy here and have made innumerable phone calls .... call me embarrassed (GRIN)

Phyl, THS = That Home Site, also known as the Home forums.

This forum (Suggestions) falls under the Garden forums and there's even another called Nature.net. There all part of the Garden Web community. Click on Forums at the top of the page to see all the listings.

Even slower, if that's possible, on THS this morning, yet the garden forum seems fine. Wonder what is going on?

Not much progress after almost 2 weeks ... what's going on?
Nice to have the notice at the top of the pages, but it gets old after seeing it every day and no changes being made...

It's been a more complicated fix then anticipated and we do understand how frustrating this has been for everyone. We're hoping that everything should be resolved this week. We'll keep you updated as things develop.
