Thank you Owbist, you are very sweet. I am waiting to hear from them. I just reread all the exchanges back and forth over the last 2 weeks and it's extensive with so many downloads, I'm not even sure if I downloaded all their fixes. The reason I don't feel hopeful is because I keep running into new ones. It appears that they made changes to fit the government guidelines, but it threw the rest of the program off. Things are not working in unison. As soon as they fix one problem, it throws off other parts. Also, the fixes don't overwrite the old problems, so they pop up again. They want me to search for the old files and delete them 'carefully.' I think they are a small company. I found them a few years ago advertised in a number of medical catalogs. I do insurance billing and record keeping. It's important that the program is accurate. Their old program was. Their new upgrade, is not. They had a year to upgrade before the mandatory changes were implemented. I think they didn't test it in 'real life' before releasing it. I have over 3,000 patients-records entered on this program. The thought of starting over, literally makes me ill. I wish I knew how to handle this. I think I was probably the first person to switch to the new upgraded version. It appears other customers have not upgraded yet. So in effect, I am the guinea pig. Thanks for listening, Jane

If it is all working ok now and has not done it again I would not worry it could have just been a conflict that happened and now it is ok. Keep an eye on your event viewer for the next week or so and if you start seeing a lot of warnings popping up all saying the same thing then we could get an idea of what it was that was causing them. When you look at an event in event viewer when you highlight it then double click on it the important stuff is mostly at the top where it gives you an event id number or code and what exactly caused it so those will be the things to look for and note.

Thought I'd update. Got Windows installed without a hitch, Dell talked me through it. I debated whether to put Win 7 in since I was starting from scratch but worried some of my software might not work Everything went well except I couldn't find drivers for some things such as my wireless adapter so couldn't get on line. Called Linksys and they spent over an hour trying to get the driver in and finally did. That was the best part, finally getting on line and getting hit with a zillion MS updates. I have misplaced or lost some software. We moved here in March and I could not locate my Office disk, wireless mouse/keyboard software and a few other things, might have gotten lost in the move. I'm most concerned about Office 07. I paid for it. Dell says they can't help and I could try contacting MS and see if they would do anything. I haven't moved any of my files back yet. Otherwise, I feel like the computer runs better than when it was new. Things seem different, have to fool with fonts and views, but I'm amazed how effortlessly the machine runs. This computer always seemed to have a few 'glitches' but I was used to it. Now it seems so fast and smooth (of course there isn't much running on it yet.) I don't know how to thank everyone for all the support and help I received. You are the best friends anyone could ever ask for. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks! Thanks from the bottom of my heart... Jane
