'Prairie Harvest'

Although I like most roses, the warm-colored roses appeal to me most of all. 'Prairie Harvest' offers soft yellow blooms in large clusters or one to a stem. In the fall they can get quite large and they often have a pink blush at that time. Nice, fruity scent. The shiny foliage compliments the luminous flowers.

I've has PH for years in my garden as a perennial rose, that is, it dies to the crown, but quickly regrows into a three foot, rather upright shrub. In those milder winters we seem to have lately, it may have little winter damage at all.

My own root PH planted straight in the ground as bare root did fine it's a good rose. I have had it happen where I bought 3 of one variety 2 grew well one sat and did nothing. They will usually start growing when weather is cooler. When they begin looking worse (as with 1 of those 3) I dug it up to fined the roots had not grown. They were still the same size as when I planted it. This happens sometimes and when it does I've not been able to save it. I just know it wasn't the variety of rose,soil,water or conditions.

Here is what Hummingbird Hill (central TX nursery) said: "shrub 4'x5', fragrant, very disease resistant- rarely needs spraying. This past spring this rose had so many flowers on it it was a mass of bright pink. It blooms throughout the summer and is rarely without a flower, but the spring show hasn't been repeated like that. I'm looking forward to seeing this girl this coming spring. She was simply amazing." Prairie Harvest has very good disease resistance around here as well. It's a wonderful rose in all respects.

John, it's beautiful. Do you grow Prairie Sunrise? Jean from TN talked several people into that one. It's a great rose. I hope to see more of your roses.

Wow!!! I passed on ordering this rose, because I thought it was more of a yellowy-beige color. Is that the usual color??? If it is, then I'm going to order that baby!!!

Yes, that is the usual color: a nice, icy, yellow. Its parent is 'Sunsprite' the source, no doubt of the good scent. I'll also add that my trio grows in a mostly shady spot. They didn't start out that way, but the nearby greedy pines overtook them years ago.

Carla, Jean enabled me into 'Prairie Sunrise.' I finefinefine rose. Alas, a victim to a cruel winter. It died.
