Wisteria Question
Comments (4)Now is the time wisterias are budding. Flowering is not far off. Do you think yours will flower this year? Everything sounds good though. These plants are very difficult to kill, even when you want to. One thing you may consider: the main branches that come out and lengthen are amenable to training if you desire to do so. You can create twisty trunks or twine them together, or do just about anything with them for an aesthetic effect. In a barrel planting, you may want to train yours as a "standard", which means a single trunk (or several twining branches making a single trunk) with the foliage and flowers as a clump on top. This style is very pretty when done right. Wisterias do need pruning at least twice a year, mainly the whippy branches that grow and grow and grow. There are some good wisteria books, probably available at your local library, you might want to check for detailed pointers on pruning & training. Have fun....See Morewisteria question
Comments (0)I have a wisteria that supposed was grafted on 3 year old root stock, I have had it planted for 8 years, and never any blooms. Any suggestions what I can do to it, to get it to bloom. It grows like a bad weed and is in pretty much full sun Thanks Bill Higgs zone 6a...See MoreAnother wisteria question.
Comments (1)Can you start at the mother plant and cut everything heading down and sideways? IME you need an air strike to take out wisteria at all, and I doubt that hitting the offspring with RU will affect the mother plant, but if you want to keep the mother plant I can understand your concern. They're a bear to dig up,too. "Sneaky" is not the word that I would use but it does apply....See Morewisteria question

I am going to keep in doors for this coming winter to give it a good chance then transplant outside in spring, unless it is red and they can not be outside in my area. Help me Please...See MoreJanetGranny
