ID my pink salvia?

I got this salvia as a cutting from a fellow Garden Webber a few years ago and have lost the nametag. It has been blooming like crazy non-stop since the beginning of April. Thanks for helping me ID this plant. (Hoping my pic posts OK.)

Seems to be form of Salvia coccinea, either 'Coral Nymph' or 'Bicolor' which is just a taller plant. Very beautiful Salvia.

I haven't even planted my seedlings out yet due to non-stop rain here.

So pretty and delicate looking.

Thanks for the reply. Blooms are around 4 inches when opened up, I'd say. The biggest flush is definitely in the spring, where it is not the earliest nor the latest of my 20 roses. It will have fewer blossoms all through the summer, but does not "always" have blooms on it like some of my others. Never a really profuse cover of blooms like a lot of my others. It has thorns, but not really "few" like Crepuscule, nor tons like Brandy. It is chugging along in sub-optimal conditions- not enough water in heat of summer, and so the foliage isn't usually very pretty. Drier, and certainly darker and definitely more coarse foliage than the Graham Thomas next to it. I have moved now to a neighboring town, but will try to go over an get some shots of the plant and thorns. I will definitely try to propagate it from a cutting, although wasn't successful on my first try this last November.

I think the best way to figure out what they are is to observe them a little. If they seem to be around constantly and hovering around the soil and base of your plant then they are fungus gnats. If they are only around in large swarms occasionally (usually after a rain storm and it warms up) then they are most likely ants. If they don't fit either of those descriptions then they are probably small wasps. Best case scenario is that they are wasps which are usually not harmful but good for your garden and you should leave them alone. Ants and gnats can be a minor irritation or a big problem, it just depends really because in some situations they can kill your plants but if your plant is of a good size and healthy then I wouldn't worry too much.

You should look for seedlings which should come true to color. It makes a very nice patch plant.

a month.It shoul;d set planty of seed for you.Can
naturalize in Florida. The species has done that.
No reason to think that this plant is going to be any different.Mine started as one and I weed the seedlings out
every year.

I have a S. coccinia called "Hummingbird Coral" that looks like what you have.

Thank you all so much for the ID. I do believe it is "Coral Nymph". I have noticed seedlings around it and am happy to let them grow where they are for now, but it will be nice to have some to share as well. I love this salvia. It is tall and yet dainty and lacy looking and pink is my favorite color. I'm going to make a plant label and put it out in the garden tomorrow. Thanks again for such quick replies. Kay

There's another pink coccinea called 'Brenthurst' as well - but they all look the same to me!
