I'm enjoying all the colour around the garden right now - I wish Summer would last for ever! We are having such beautiful weather out here ... though we could use some rains, I'm not complaining.

Aprille some of your favorites are also my favorites
especially Tamora and Queen Nefertiti.
Your roses are so pretty, I especially like Mozart and Lady E.

Remember Aprille, there is a rule: It is not POSSIBLE to post too many pictures of beautiful roses. It just can't be done. Every one of yours is beautiful but my favorites are Rochester Cathedral, Morning Greeting and Waterloo. Frau Eva Schubert is a darling little rose also. Thanks so much for the treat. Moonbeam is still my favorite. I've planted it in the Midwest, New England and now the Southwest. I love the delicate foliage with those lemony flowers. It blooms madly, stands up to high winds and occasional downpours, and even the assaults of the rabbits who sheared 3 plants down to just above the soil line this spring. I'm growing Creme Brulee this year because it was advertised as an improved Moonbeam. It has larger flowers and is more compact but to my eye, the shade of yellow is more golden and less lemon. Sienna Sunset is just getting established, having been planted in early July. I'm disappointed that the color is lighter than I expected, more ocher than sienna. I'm going to have to move it because the color clashes with the agastaches Coronado Red and Acapulco Trio around it. Cheryl

Ahhh Arif, my friend, we have another love in Common...Euphorbia. I have a few varieties myself and love how they bloom constantly and endure anything. They are also know here as "crown of thorns" as in the biblical reference. I do not know for a fact tho that Euphorbia were used. Frank, whenever I trim or transplant, I use long-handle BBQ tongs! The thorns are unbearable if you get them in your fingers! I will take photos of some of mine to share.

Gary, a bit surprised at Sealing Wax Palms (Cyrtostachys) and Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) growing together. The BOP isn't a tropical (from South Africa) and the palm is an ultra-tropical. Rainforests are a bit overwhelming, there's no wasted space. Everything has got something growing on it, and that "it" sometimes has something else growing on it again. I like the way Elkhorns and Basket Ferns become hosts to other ferns, particularly the Ribbon Ferns, and also orchids and Hoyas. I did a lot of walking in the high altitude rainforest in Papua New Guinea, it was breathtaking. Was going to try it on Bartle Frere this last time in Queensland but the weather had set in bad on the mountain, becomes a bit dangerous on the slippery boulders near the top. You're doing a lot better for local native orchids than in my locality, we've only got about 46, I think. Most are terrestrial. Over in Queensland they have thousands. Our only epiphytes are Dendrobium affine, D. canaliculatum, Cymbidium canaliculatum and a rather obscure rare one I can't remember the name of. But at least we have a lot more native orchids than all of Hawaii. (Although, even Alaska has more native orchids than Hawaii, oh well...)

Very nice Aprille! My favorites are Queen Nefertiti and The Prince. Just cut a few of those yesterday to take into work....what a wonderful fragrance!!

The Prince reminded me of Falstaff.

Does anyone here know what's the difference between Falstaff and The Prince? I've looked through HMF, and Falstaff seem to have that purple color like Aprille's The Prince.

Msjam - yes I think I like Lady Emma better than Pat Austin, though to be fair to Pat, it does not get a lot of sun with the new grape arbour right over it and I've only had two blooms, they blew so fast I did not get a chance to enjoy them or see them well - on the other hand, the blooms on Lady Emma last a bit longer.

jumbojimmy, I grow both The Prince and Falstaff - they are pretty similar in shape, the colour of Falstaff in my garden is more red, more like the colour of WS2000 while The Prince is more deeper - of course Falstaff gets more afternoon sunlight and The Prince gets afternoon shade.
