Recent Blooms

This last weekend we recieved a surprise 5 inches of rain! It has really helped to green things up. All of my roses loved it... Here are some recent blooms and a few more of the visitors that have been around the garden...

Gruss an Aachen - The cooler temps have brought out some lovely pink tones

Beautiful photos Mark! I love that butterfly shot! And Gus-gus looks sooo much like a cat I had yrs ago named Pebbles. He was a beauty too.

Thank you. Kristine, did you mean Gold Medal? Although I love Medallion, it's not one that I have. My Savannah had such nice fragrance, and last year I liked it better as the season progressed. I think you would like Orchid Romance, Lily, at least you would if it did as good for you as it does for me. It's almost a fool proof rose for me. Carol, I use Miracle Gro Potting mix. This year I added Osmocote to all my established potted roses and also the newly planted ones at the time I planted them. Here's a picture of Bolero. It seems to be coming along pretty good, because it got a slow start at the beginning of the season. It had some wind damage, but came out of that just fine. Until now it had a few scattered blooms. DOUBLE DELIGHT - This one has bloomed a lot, just not very many that have been that pretty so far, but it is always fragrant! I have had some nice PINK PEACE blooms this year, and I can always count on its fragrance too.

Kate, I am so happy with Bullfrog kisses, a big flower and started off with a nice bloom. Kay says 3rd year is the charm. If that happens I may be dancin' nekkid among the daylilies. Nancy, Bullfrog arrived last fall, I am hoping it will do well here. Debra, if you want some of Ashwood, let me know. I moved it last fall, it seems like it has doubled in size. Brad, #7 is actually Pawprints on My Heart. Having a time getting Houzz to work. New computer is very sensitive, so I don't know if it is that, Houzz, or just me. Pawprints has put out a few really pretty blooms, but only a single 10" scape on 4 fans (mature) and this is its 2nd full season, got it fall of 2017. Pink Enchilada is even shorter, but just got it in the fall. Sherry, Little Audrey looks like that a lot, even reblooms occasionally, although I don't think it is listed as such. I am not fond of small daylilies, but when they bloom like this one I have to keep it. If anyone would like some fans of this, I have 2 more clumps of it this size.

The tropicals appear to have finally decided to bloom. This is a braided double peach-colored one that I got from Walmart several years ago. It goes outside for Summer Camp, then becomes a houseplant for the winter. Today's bloom is the topping for my tortose's meal.

Gorgeous roses and flowers and your photos are all amazing. The butterfly shot is excellent. I love the kitty, I have one with a coat similar, with hair out it's ears like that. Mine were ferals descended from an abandoned house cat that looked like yours in the mtns of CA.
Thanks for sharing all of that, simply beautiful.

All great pictures but your kitty is just wonderful. Mark do you grow snacks for him in the garden? I started a catnip bed for my boy this year and although I sometimes have to remind him it is there he greatly enjoys snacking on and rolling in the 'nip.

Mark, I have the Gruss too. I really would like to have Pink Gruss but too many other choices. Once in a while my Gruss takes on other colors. I love your pervuian lilies and Gus Gus is a doll!

Lovely pictures. Down here we call those pink lilies "Naked Ladies" since the foliage comes up in the spring and dies down by the time they bloom. When the blooms come up from the ground in July there's no "skirt" of foliage around their bottoms, so they are called "naked" ladies). Mine are blooming now too..........Gus Gus is a real handsome fellow and a worthy addition to your beautiful garden.

Love your garden---when is that corn going to be ripe? I'd love some. Gus-gus is just too good looking for words. Love that look he is giving the camera! I just planted pink Gruss an aachen and I am very pleased with it. Yours looks fabulous--so pink!

Katefisher~Yes, I have a really nice stand of catnip for gus-gus. He likes to eat it as well as the grass!

Maryl~You are right about those lilies.. they really are 'naked'!

char_rose~Just checked some of my corn... it is very close to ready! I think I'll give it a few more days. The variety I planted is called 'Incredible'. It takes a little longer to mature than some other types of sweet corn.

I always like seeing your pictures. It takes a good gardener to get everything to grow that well in z5.
I like the picture of the entire garden. I hope we can see more. The garden picture reminds me of the movie "Field of Dreams". Maybe shoeless joe will come out of there. Imagine.
